I went there after seeing a video about it on TikTok.

The café is very well located by Bosphorus , and I went for breakfast. Upon arriving, I asked for a table by the window, but I was refused because I was alone. I didn’t argue since it was true, so I quietly went to sit on a bench further away, giving up on the view. Once seated, I couldn’t help but notice that several window-side tables were occupied by groups of two, even though I was denied access. (It was suppose to by only for Group of 4)

When I was ready to order, I wanted to ask for a cappuccino, but unfortunately, they were having issues with their coffee machine. I was told that tea was offered instead, and they brought me a carafe of tea with a glass. I chose my dish, and after eating, I received the bill. To my surprise, the tea had been charged. When I asked the server, the first one didn’t respond, and the second, who had initially told me it was free, explained, “Yes, but you served yourself twice, so the first glass was free, and the rest were charged.” I was very surprised by this practice because, to me, when a bottle of water is brought to the table, it isn’t charged by the number of glasses.

We were left disappointed after revisiting Durban Cafe, despite having had previous amazing experiences. Our expectations were high, but unfortunately, they were not met this time. One of the major disappointments was the significant increase in prices within just three months. This sudden doubling of prices was unexpected and it put us off. Moreover, we noticed a noticeable decline in the quality of service. When we informed one of the waiters about the cold temperature, he disregarded our request and opened the windows before walking away, leaving us feeling unheard and unattended to. This lack of attentiveness was disheartening. Adding to our disappointment, we observed that the cafe had placed heaters only at selected tables for their Arabic clients, which made us feel like there was a racial preference being shown. This unequal treatment made us uncomfortable and raised concerns about fairness and inclusivity. Another point of frustration was having to repeatedly ask for the coal to be changed. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Durban Cafe Istanbul, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, making it the perfect spot for both casual meals and special gatherings.

What truly stood out was the outstanding service provided by Ibrahim. From the moment we walked in, he greeted us with a warm welcome that set the tone for the entire evening. His attentiveness and genuine care for our dining experience made us feel valued and at home.
