A Pleasant Stay in a Prime Location with Minor Shortcomings
I stayed at Venue Hotel Old City in Istanbul for three nights in May. Upon arrival, I requested an early check-in, but due to availability, the staff politely informed me that it wasn’t possible at the time. However, they kindly offered me breakfast while I waited—an appreciated gesture. Shortly after breakfast, they were able to accommodate my early check-in, which was a welcome convenience.
The room was spacious, bright, and clean, though the furniture and bathroom showed signs of age. Despite this, everything was functional and comfortable. The hotel’s location is excellent for tourists, situated on a lively street filled with restaurants. My room overlooked this vibrant area with two large windows, providing ample natural ventilation. The bathroom was generously sized, as was the shower area, which added to the overall comfort.
Breakfast offered a reasonable variety, but lacked day-to-day diversity. Some items, particularly desserts and fruits, were below average in quality. While it was an acceptable meal to start the day, it wouldn’t rank among the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had.
The staff were helpful, and housekeeping ensured that the room was cleaned daily. Overall, I had a positive experience at the hotel and wouldn’t mind staying there again, though there are minor areas that could benefit from...
Read moreIt’s a tiny old hotel with an even smaller lift.||The rooms whilst they look clean at first chance you will notice some issues like I cleaned vents, dirty toothpicks (which you didn’t use), uncleared cups, etc.||There is a notice to say that water cannot be dropped on the bathroom floors.||Don’t bother taking any taxi or attractions package at the reception. There are far cheaper options outside.||Breakfast sucks - whilst breakfast is served until 10:30 don’t expect anything good left after 9:30 and they don’t refill. They also start clearing up by 10:00 am. Check the vegetables and fruits before eating as some could be rotten. Most of the leftovers of the previous day are served. Not a lot of choice in the servings. Scrambled egg is served daily - some days with no salt and some with too much. Not to forget that no one at the restaurant speaks English. ||Drinking water is not provided so this is something you will have to get yourself.||Make sure you carry a mosquito repellent as there are lots of mosquitoes in all areas of the hotel.||All said the reception staff are very kind and courteous. Better to get a higher floor so you can avoid the noisy street. The best part is it is not too noisy in...
Read moreI highly recommend this hotel for location, clean room, price and the best part is staffs! I met three hotel managers and they are very fast to response to my requests. They said they make sure guests have a great time at the hotel. They knew my name even I haven’t met some because they make sure their guests name and room!
I actually booked another hotel after this hotel originally, but I need to cancel and come back to this hotel because their customer service!
The reason I cancel the second hotel because they act like they are very important people than their guest. The room looks pretty but smells like a cheap chemical cleaner which caused me headache. They agreed the strong smell but they said I must have some Allegy to the smell, but hell No! The smell was even on the pillow and sheets.
When I said that to this hotel manager, he said this will never happen here! I felt very safe here. Also breakfast...
