Mercure Hotel Sirkeci at Istanbul was my second home. Stayed with the family for a period of exactly one month and a half and blocked during our stay three rooms. The stay will be stuck in our memories and yes, this hotel is the best in Sirkeci area. Below is a detailed review:
1- Staff: you will really feel home when staying at this hotel. What can I say, they were extremely friendly and all of their staff, playing with our kids, hugging them, even buying gifts for them! It was so difficult when we had to leave! Thanks goes to Fettah, Burak, Maya, Ahmed and all front desk staff for their professionalism, for their care and support all the time. Fettah is a gentleman whom is unbelievably supportive and dealing with purity. Another thank you message goes to the Food and Bed staff especially Ramazan and Ali as well as Ibrahim and Semra for their daylong unbeatable service. Guys, you are all great, well trained, and will be missed. From here I need to thank Ibrahim for helping us at midnight when my wife got stomach sick where this gentleman stayed with us at the hospital! Now you can imagine how friendly their staff and how well structured this organization! I am astonished how staff culture was quickly blended at this hotel although it is very new (recently opened in June 2019).
2- Location: very strategically Located at the edges of Sirkeci district adjacent to the PTR (post office) which a historical building. Very easy access to the Tramway, and Marmaray Metro station (3 minutes walk to Tramway and Marmaray m). The hotel is also near to Eminonu (8 minutes walk) where you you can take the ship to Asian side of Istanbul. At your exit from the hotel main gate, you will find a beautiful cafe shop that is open 24/7, a barber shop, camera and telephone shops, and the famous Ali Usta sandwich ship. I personally rate the location 10 out of 10. So many different shops locate near to the hotel including restaurants, pharmacies , currency exchange offices, supermarkets, sweetshops, and photo/camera shops.
3- Rooms: nicely decorated, new, comfy but with limited sides. I recommend bookers to occupy rooms suited for occupancy of 3 pax. Bathroom is very nicely designed, with rainfall shower which was nice. A huge TV with so many channels, iron table/device, and a minibar. The rooms are equipped with an excellent Air-conditioning System.
4- Restaurant and food service: the hotel has a very delicious menu with very good price list.
5- Laundry: available but your laundry will be sent to a vendor. Little bit pricy.
6- Cleanness: good and clean.
7- Hotel condition: as of August 2019 the hotel is three months old (new).
8- Facilities: a gym in -1 floor, caffe, and a restaurant.
Car parking: no car parking at the hotel but you can park your car for a fee as near as a 5 minutes walk. Car parking in Istanbul is called (ISpark) or (Oto Park) and the fee goes maximum of 38 Turkish Lira if parked for 24 hours.
Conclusion: this is a 4+ star hotel (it could be a 5 star one if they had a swimming pool), that advice anyone visiting Istanbul to stay in. They have great staff, service, and rooms. As my second home in IST, I will for sure consider at my next visit. Thank you Mercure, thank you Accor for this great experience. Good bye till the next time.
Regards, Suhail Badr and the family Stayed from July 1 till...
Read moreI showed up late afternoon after I had broken my ankle in Egypt the day prior. I had made a note that perhaps they might know where I could purchase crutches and I might need some help getting to my room. Well they went all out! You would have thought that I was an actual VIP instead of a simple researcher trying to write a book, who flies in & out of Turkiye because her good friend lives in Istanbul. They came out to get me because the hotel wasn't on the street and helped me hobble to the lobby. They brought in my luggage and even had a brochure from a medical supply company for me to choose what I needed. One of the gentleman went there after his shift because he had a motorbike and it would be easy for him to maneuver during rush hour traffic. They were then immediately brought to me & then I paid for them. I was in so much pain I completely forgot to pay beforehand, but they didn't say a thing. The provided a room that was for handicapped and close to the elevator. The following day they found an uber to take me to the bazaar to meet my friend & apologized that it would cost more because of the day and where I would be going. Since I was American & well traveled I of course understood, but I also took note of every little thing. You see I'm extremely difficult to please. I rarely say anything if something is wrong but you will probably know if I am not happy. On my way out of the hotel the one thing that I hadn't said the entire trip, was to stop by the front desk, and let them know that the hotel was absolutely wonderful and the customer service they provided was amazing! I wanted to personally thank them because I had just stayed at the Fairmont in Cairo and although absolutely luxurious you're paying for that luxury and they're extremely helpful, but they didn't have the same je ne sais quois. I will ensure that anyone who is planning a trip to Istanbul that they absolutely must stay at this hotel & believe me when I say, being a military wife, I have so many that come to me for travel advice! I just can't...
Read moreI am writing to express my deep disappointment with my recent stay at Mercure Sirkeci. Unfortunately, we experienced a very uncomfortable night due to mites in the bed and a strong sewage smell coming from the bathroom.||We had booked two nights on our way back home in order to explore the historical sites nearby, but because of the poor room conditions, we were unable to sleep and therefore could not enjoy our stay as planned.||What makes this even more disappointing is that I had sent an email prior to check-in asking for the best available option, as I had seen mixed reviews online. Despite holding a Platinum Accor membership and requesting an upgrade, we were given what appeared to be one of the worst rooms: very small, with little natural light, only one window, and a strong odor (which I tried to mask with perfume). The bathroom was also in unacceptable condition, with hair found everywhere.||To make matters worse, although the manager told me no other rooms were available, I noticed that larger and brighter rooms were later shown as available on the website after we had already checked out early in the morning — which leads me to feel that my request and membership status were disregarded.||We genuinely wanted to give Mercure Sirkeci a chance despite the mixed reviews, but unfortunately, this experience left us extremely disappointed. I kindly request a refund for the second night of our stay, as we were unable to remain in the hotel under these conditions.||We requested a refund for the second night, and at first the manager told us we would need to wait until 9:00 AM because we had checked out around 7:30 AM. However, after sending an email, we surprisingly received the refund without having to wait at all.||So not only did we have a sleepless night, but they also tried to make us wait unnecessarily outside, which made the whole experience even more...
