Must visit in Istanbul! I love food and eating out and after a few days of tourist restaurants I was determined to have some proper local Turkish food. I found this place which had reviews that indicated it was what I was looking for… it didn’t disappoint!!
Food was all really fresh and tasty, very well spiced (the previous night we had some bland kebabs at one of the restaurants on the Michelin list !!). The 5 hot dishes we ordered came at once and were all hot even though it was only the wife cooking so she clearly knows what she’s doing. One thing to share is it did take 45 minutes for the food to come so I would recommend coming before you’re starving so you can relax and get ready to enjoy an amazing meal, noting that if you want dips/starters separately let them know or it will all come at once.
We had these dishes and would highly recommend it all: Haydari Acili Ezme imam bayildi Adana kebab Shrimp guvec Helim izgara
Not only was the food delicious all of that comes to £20… very affordable!
We ended with baklava and tea, also delicious, they gave us 2 x apple tea for free as they didn’t have mint which we wanted.
A real family business, such a lovely cosy family vibe with kind friendly service. I hope others get to enjoy the same amazing experience...
Read moreIf I could give this place 10 start I would - we have been here 2 times and will visit more for sure. The best food we had in Turkey! Owner is a wonderful person, very friendly and hospitable, not intrusive at all, god bless him and his family! Food is just awesome and soooo fresh! Here is what we took so far: chicken soup - the best chicken soup in my life! silky smooth and very filling. kofte - like little beef cutlets, amazing! was favorite of my daughter she had it twice. I sampled and I get it why she is keeping it her fav, they are just perfect. eggplant kebab - very good! juicy, tender meat and perfectly grilled eggplant koban salad - huge plate! we shared it between 3 of us. Very fresh and perfectly balanced veggies. Even my daughter liked it though she is very picky re anything veggie seabream, aka cupra - I liked it, perfectly grilled, juicy and tender lamb stew, very good - was sizzling hot when was brought to us adana kebab - the only one I didnt really liked, too salty and spicy to my liking. Can't wait to try...
Read moreAvoid this place, don't get fooled by the fake reviews as we did. Basic low quality and overpriced restaurant which makes profit by ripping off tourists. We arrived arrived the empty restaurant at around 4pm, the table was covered with dirt, had to ask to waiter to clean it (!). It took more than 45mins to get the order, although there was no other customer. The food was terrible, tasteless and also very small portion. I have strong feeling that the restaurant doesn't even have a kitchen, beacuse the only waiter we saw hopped on a scooter and came back 15 mins later just before the food magically appeared from the back street. Interestingly enough the credit card terminal was out of service, so we were forced to withdraw money and pay in cash for this awful experience. We reported that we did not like anything at all but the waiter didn't seem to care. We paid 600 tl for 3 dishes which is super expensive even in Istanbul. After 3 weeks long trip and after visiting 9 big cities i can say this was...
