Meşhur Sultanahmet Köftecisi is a historic restaurant about 145 meters from the iconic Hagia Sophia in Istanbul's Sultanahmet district. Established in 1920, it is renowned for its traditional Sultanahmet meatballs, made from carefully selected meats and grilled over an open flame to enhance the natural flavors. Since we stepped in, we could tell this would be an authentic experience. They greeted us in a friendly manner while also being efficient. We ordered several things from the menu but focused on the traditional köfte meatballs. The menu features dishes like shish kebab, chicken shish, pilaf, soup, piyaz (bean salad), seasonal salads, and traditional Turkish desserts such as irmik helvası (semolina dessert) and Kemalpaşa tatlısı. The prices are reasonable, considering the quality and location. Given its proximity to Hagia Sophia, Meşhur Sultanahmet Köftecisi is an excellent choice for those seeking authentic Turkish cuisine in a historic setting. We highly recommend it to get an authentic experience and best...
Read moreAfter checking into our hotel, we were all craving some kebabs and köfte, and Meghur Sultanahmet Köftecisi did not disappoint. We stumbled upon this charming little spot after taking a tram from our hotel, and it turned out to be the perfect find.

The quality of the meat, especially in their köfte, was exceptional – perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. It’s clear that they focus on doing a few things really well, and it shows in every bite.
If you’re in the Sultan Ahmet area and looking for a cozy spot serving top-notch Turkish fare, this is definitely...
Read moreThe place is very well located, next to the tram station and Sultanahmet Mosque. Usually, there is a long line of people waiting to get inside and gets really busy. What you expect to eat is very limited as the menu only has around 3 or 4 main items. We took the local meatball (their speciality) and trust me they taste amazing! I took the first and second and third plate of the same dish. Each dish has 6 hot pieces of kufte with two mild green peppers and a tasty sauce. The service is only OK. There is only one bathroom which is why this place looses 1 star. Note: make sure that you ask for detailed pricing when you get...
