First of all, I would like to share my experience of visiting the historical Sultanahmet Köftecisi Selim Usta via Google Maps. This place was a place that impressed me with its historical atmosphere and delicious food.
The Sultanahmet area, where the restaurant is located, is a place that reflects the historical texture of Istanbul. Selim Usta, the historical Sultanahmet Köftecisi, also draws attention as an elegant and traditional place that adapts to this environment. The exterior and interior decoration of the place has created a pleasant atmosphere by combining Ottoman influences in a modern style.
When you enter the venue, you are greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff made my visit even more enjoyable. Among the various options on the menu, I preferred meatballs, which are indispensable for traditional Turkish cuisine. Meatballs exceeded my expectations in terms of both taste and portion size.
I must also express my satisfaction with the speed of service. The food was served quite quickly and came to the table keeping its temperature. Also, the tea and sweet treats served after the meal were a nice touch.
However, the only negative point in my experience was that sometimes I had to wait due to the busyness of the place. This shows that the popularity and taste of Historical Sultanahmet Meatballs, Selim Usta is appreciated by local people and tourists.
In conclusion, historical Sultanahmet Köftecisi Selim Usta offers a wonderful experience that reflects the rich culture of Istanbul, both historically and gastronomically. I highly recommend this place with its delicious food, sincere service and...
Read moreI came up to this place just randomly and I am glad I did. Located within close proximity of Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, I decided to try it for their meatballs (koftas). Due to being alone I was seated on 2nd floor with the nice view in background. The restaurant doesn't have extensive menu so there weren't any tough choices to make. I ordered koftas (meatballs) with soda and white rice (pevlao something). The staff was nice but they were overwhelmed due to the large number of customers. It took about 15 mins for the food to come but surely it was worth waiting for. Succulent, grilled-hot and with just the right balance of spices, these meatballs were beyond my expectations. The mix with rice was unusual but great. I had to have one more plate to justify my love for these meatballs. I decided to go with rice pudding also known as firni here. It was the first ever pudding in my two visits to Istanbul and boy it was delicious! I couldn't have judged that it contained rice if it hadn't been mentioned in menu. Served in traditional clay bowl, the dessert was perfectly sweet unlike many other Turkish desserts and delights. The visit to this restaurant was unexpectedly great, fulfilling and fun. Would definitely visit again if happens to be in...
Read moreThis place was recommended to me by a local and I understand why. It was in fact my second time visiting this specific place.
I ordered a lentil soup, kofte, and a plate of rice as well as water for a drink, all for 490 lira. First of all, the lentil soup was very nice and soothing for a starter dish and the waiters were very aware of each customer and will bring the starting and main dishes in order. The kofte was amazing, probably the best I had in Istanbul, it came with a big portion along with refreshing pickled chili. The combination all together with the kofte, chili and rice hit the spot perfectly.
I’m a person who tries to look for something to criticise at and always put on reviews with something to comment on not negatively but something they could work on, however, this place does not need any. Simply just go and you will realise why. Good service, good quality and portion for such a reasonable price.
