Free Tour in Istanbul — Local services in Fatih

After enjoying a decent free walking tour, we booked a boat tour based on the guide's recommendation - what was sold : a small English-speaking group with a guide onboard. However, the reality was different. People from various language groups gathered on the boat, and descriptions were given over a loudspeaker. While the views were good, we could not hear any commentary or information about what we were seeing. This was disappointing, especially since even native English speakers couldn't hear the announcements properly. We met other participants from the free walking tour, and we all shared the same negative experience. The second part of our trip involved a short tour in the Üsküdar neighborhood. Unfortunately, our guide was not welcoming, spoke very quickly as if reciting a memorized speech, and seemed generally disinterested. While the price of 15 euros wasn't excessive, it was far from what was advertised. We were very disappointed. Later, we joined another tour with a different company for only 7 euros, which included free coffee and tea. Today I took part in the free walking tour in English and I had such a great time. Our guide Pinar was such a fantastic and funny person. She took us to the most important places in old town and was making us laugh a lot. She was super helpful in the end with a lot of local recommendations for food, gifts and everything you can imagine 😍
