Abd El Wahab, Dubai Marina — Restaurant in Dubai

Compared to the Belgravia branch in Central London, where I have dined quite a few times - this was quite the disappointment!

Staff were standoffish and seemed like it was a ‘do or die’ affair just being at work. The menus were handed to us in such a way that the waiter should of just said ‘take it’, to soften the blunt body language.

All and everything served to our table e.g. bread, olives and our food of course, was just placed down and they were off with the wind. I felt almost uncomfortable as if we were giving them all a hard time by dining there.

Food flies made a visit and just wouldn’t leave. Hovering around our food and spring rolls.. I was definitely put off eating, and didn’t finish. The food also wasn’t great at all, again compared to the London branch. They just assumed we were finished eating and walked over ‘no questions or confirmation’ that we were done and our plates were cleared like that.

It is one of the best lebanese restaurants in the city. The location is amazing, overlooking the gorgeous Marina canal, with an outdoor and indoor area for shisha and smoking. The table layout is spacious and almost every table has a view. The service is perfect, constantly checking on us and changing our plates between courses. And the staff are super friendly and efficient. The portions are very generous and the food is exquisitely delicious. The cold and hot mezza selection is very wide and it suits all dietary requirements. The baskets of fresh hot bread are constantly replenished and you are served some complimentary snacks (olives, seasonal vegetables, almonds,...) before you order your food. The desserts are succulent and the selection is so vast that you can't decide what to order, so try more than one. Very unfortunate to see such a reputable name go down the drain so fast, I have decided to take a team of 31 professional (management members in the 2nd largest oil and Gas Vendor in the world) in an attempt to introduce them to the Lebanese culture and cuisine... something I have always highly valued ... “Abd El Wahab DUBAI Marina” came to mind since I had a wonderful experience there 4 years ago... we arrived there after we made our booking 27 hours earlier ...Service was horrible, manager was insulting, fumes from the kitchen formed clouds on top of us, temperature was not under control whatsoever ... people kept sweating the entire time ...food portions were embarrassingly small, but I have to say that Quality and taste of the food were reasonably OK for a high security prison in North Korea. I drove back home trying to be fairly objective ... I wanted to find one small quality to prove me wrong ... I failed miserably. Very...
