TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE... in terms of Cinque management, at least.
A close friend recommended this place so decided I'd give it a try. Booked for a Friday evening. Was asked in or out and asked for indoors as its September and dining outdoors on a date is simply not going to be enjoyable. They confirmed.
Went there and was told only seating available now is outdoors, as its a 'first come first served' basis. This from a supposedly fine dining establishment where I've booked indoors.
I complain that I've cancelled other reservations to be there not letting me know I'll sit outdoors is simply not on. They get me their Italian manager, who proceeds to... A. Ask for my reservation confirmation, which I gladly show, but which they should have on their system. B. Quotes the fine print in that confirmation that says "If you have any special requests, please let the reservations team know in advance."
The gentleman is clearly clueless as to the fact that you can't consider sitting inside a "special request" in Dubai’s summer months! Hospitality 101 amigo.
Also, I'd made it clear upon booking I wanted to sit inside and that they'd confirmed.
That, or he was simply trying to avoid accountability for their overbooking mistake by playing lawyer and not taking responsibility for their mess up.
Either way, total rubbish and an amateurish, inane approach of dealing with a customer who's evening you just ruined because of your incompetence.

Later, we stepped outside to have our last drink on the terrace. When we moved to terrace, they informed us that the main dish had already been prepared and insisted on serving it, despite our previous cancellation.
As someone who works in the service industry, I know that both the main dish and the side dish were prepared à la minute. However, the real issue was that, even after I expressed my dissatisfaction and pointed out that this was not the right way to handle the situation, no action was taken.
