When I went to Bath, I was looking for some information about starting my own company and moving myself to the UK.
Even if discovering new places is pretty exciting, being alone in a city you have never been before is never a pleasant experience; but this is not what happened: Giovanni and his wife Mary were always there for me, answering any question I could think of and they quickly became my reference point in the city.
They helped me in every way they could and made me really feel at home, giving advices about Bath itself, its business opportunities and going way further any duty they could have ever.
I chose a single room with breakfast; the room was cleaned every day like the day I got in, and their breakfast is an experience you should try at least once in your life!
The difference between the Kennard Hotel and any other one, is that you ask for a room, but that is not what you get. What you really get is the kindness you would expect by friend, someone who gives you advices that you were not going to expect from an hotel owner and, before moving out, you probably will be speechless because what they do for you is something you never got elsewhere. You pay just for a room, but what you get is a wonderful experience.
This is the Kennard Hotel. I hope you will enjoy it as...

The staff are of the same high standard and the breakfast in the nery pleasant basement dining room is quite simply the best I have had for some ten or more years whilst travelling regularly.
There are parking permits but getting there must be planned and once parked it is best to walk, not an issue as Bath is a small city. It is walkable from the railway station along a pleasant route with views of the river and crossing Poultney Bridge.
Even off season there are many decent restaurants, pubs and wine bars nearby though in January around 50% were closed for refurbishment or vacations there were still plenty left!
All in all the Kennard is an excellent place to stay with only one proviso. This is a narrow Georgian townhouse. There is nowhere to put a lift / elevator. If you have difficulty with stairs beware, otherwise you...
Read moreWe stayed in room 2 which is a superior double. The room fit in perfectly with the Georgian façade and thus made the overall experience perfect. Selection of teas and coffee in the room as well as robes and slippers. Staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was served in a period dining room and served local produce, which tasted lovely. The position of the hotel is excellent and a few minutes walk into central bath. Parking permit provided and we did manage to find a spot not too far from the hotel. The hotel also has a knot garden which is beautiful and kept to a high standard. We also walked out of the Kennard on day two and bumped into Ricky Gervais which was quite exciting. We resisted the urge to ask for a selfie. Great stay in Bath which is just a...
