Read moreI booked a table for Sunday afternoon through Open-table for 5. There were two members of staff mingling near the kitchen who saw we were all stood their wait but didn't come over initially. After a few minutes of awkward looks over to the staff as to why they were not coming over to us a member of staff named Callum came over in a very lacklustre way and asked if we had booked to which I confirmed. Callum said the table we were supposed to have someone was sitting on and for us to wait. We waited in a window area where they have flowers and the restaurant name (seems like a good place for a photo) A lady (Sabah) then came over to see what we were doing and if we had booked, I let her know that we had been seen to and were told to wait. It did make the ladies feel a little uncomfortable as they said it seemed as though there was no communication at all and we were just hanging around just for a picture. Once seated the décor is very nice and seating comfortable. We ordered starters and dosa's for mains. The food was very nice. The only issue we had was the amount of sauces provided with the dosa. Most dosa restaurants would provide sambar and the 3/4 chutneys (very small sizes on one plate) per dosa howver Dil se only provide 1 sauce plate between two dosa's.
When we did ask the manager for more sauces he was quite rude and abrupt to our request. The sauces were provided but there was no real nice customer service experience especially from a manager.
There was one waitress called Deep who was vey polite and bubbly which was what I would expect all staff and managers to be like.
Overall I would say the food is very nice but the customer...
Read moreDil Se in the Mailbox, Birmingham, offers a truly delightful twist on the classic afternoon tea experience. This posh and fancy restaurant, with its bright and vibrant decor and lovely colour scheme, exudes a luxurious feel and boasts a lovely atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. While the initial wait of around ten minutes before a manager approached to take our order felt a tad long, the subsequent service more than made up for it. A helpful waitress clearly explained the afternoon tea offerings, and the manager was prompt in checking if everything was to our satisfaction. The star of the show was undoubtedly the amazing selection of afternoon tea, which thoughtfully blended tradition with unique Indian flavours. The masala tea was lovely, possessing a comforting classic home flavour. What truly set Dil Se apart was the welcome variety of savoury foods on offer. It was a refreshing change from the usual cucumber sandwiches, presenting an all-Indian selection that was both flavourful and exciting. Of course, the classic sweet treats were not forgotten, with delicious scones and brownies amongst the tempting desserts. Overall, our experience at Dil Se was wonderful. The innovative Indian savoury options provided a delightful departure from the norm, and the combination of a luxurious setting, attentive service (after the initial delay), and exceptional tea made for a memorable afternoon. Dil Se is certainly a fantastic choice for anyone seeking an afternoon tea with a sophisticated and flavourful twist...
