Hidden Gem with Delicious Food and Friendly Service – A Must-Try!
Look In Takeaway Restaurant is hands down one of the best local takeaways I’ve ever been to. Tucked away unassumingly, this place might not scream for attention from the outside, but once you’ve tried their food, you’ll understand why it’s so popular among those in the know.
Food Quality: Every dish I’ve ordered from Look In has been fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Their Chinese dishes are consistently delicious — from the crispy aromatic duck to the rich and comforting chicken curry, every bite is packed with authentic flavor. The ingredients taste fresh, the portions are generous, and they never skimp on quality.
Menu Variety: They offer an impressive range of dishes to suit all tastes — whether you're after classic favorites like sweet and sour chicken, chow mein, or something a little spicier like Szechuan beef, they’ve got you covered. The vegetarian options are also really tasty and clearly prepared with the same care as the rest of the menu.
Service: The staff are incredibly friendly and polite, whether you're ordering at the counter or calling in for collection. They’re efficient, accurate with orders, and genuinely seem to care that customers are satisfied. It’s clear they have a loyal customer base, and their warm, welcoming attitude is a big reason why.
Speed and Consistency: Orders are always ready promptly, and the food is piping hot every time. I’ve never had a wrong order or a bad experience, even during peak times like Friday nights — a true testament to their organization and dedication.
Cleanliness and Presentation: The takeaway is clean and well-kept, and the food packaging is neat and secure, which makes it perfect for enjoying at home. Even the little things, like how they wrap the sauces or pack the rice separately to keep it from getting soggy, show attention to detail.
Value for Money: For the quality and portion sizes, Look In offers excellent value. You get proper, satisfying meals that don’t feel like they’ve been rushed or thrown together — and the prices are very reasonable, especially given how consistent and delicious the food is.
Overall: Look In Takeaway Restaurant is a local treasure. Whether you're a regular or trying it for the first time, you're in for a treat. It’s the kind of place that once you find it, you keep going back. Great food, lovely staff, and dependable service — what more could you ask...
Read moreUsed to be my favourite Chinese restaurant when I go to Birmingham for conference, when I visited yesterday and ordered roast pork with vegetables, it such a disappointment the pork was old and the rice had gone off when I reached London the container has been drenched because they just put all the chili sauce in like it's food for a pig. Today I ordered my use to be favourite beef noodles soup however they forgot to give me the clear soup broth and I specifically said I no longer wanted the charsui pork bec of yesterday it didn't taste nice and yet today when I ordered the 4 roast meat I only got the three variety and was charged for four altogether I was charged £28.50. I have taken my friends there once because I kept on telling them how good and authentic the food was and how it reminded me of my dad when he use to take me to the Chinese restaurant back home, however after today I am never coming back.it no longer is as nice as it used to be but rather a disappointment.😞also the lady that served me today was very grumpy and unapproachable, I may not speak Chinese fluently anymore having lived in the UK for so long but that doesn't mean that you won't offer a good service just because of that grounds. I won't recommend this place to anyone...

The food was excellent definitely a little taste of Hong Kong but In Birmingham.
The cuisine is wholesome Cantonese dishes with all your standard dishes.
We went for a fish and tofu and crackling pork pot as a little extra to accompany Our roast meat noodle soup and beef flank crispy noodles.
Prices are very reasonable and portions are excellent.
Everything was flavoursome, normally am not a fan of roast charsiu pork as it can be quite dry I find, but this was exceptional lovely balance of sweetness with the caramelized from the roast. And pork was tender and juicy.
The service was super friendly as it was our first visit, it felt like going to a aunties house. When I went to pay I didn’t even need to ask and she was like would you like to pack the left over as portion was very generous and we couldn’t eat it all.
If your looking for excellent service, cheap prices and a taste of Hong Kong I recommend coming here. Don’t be deterred by the basic decor, but it reminds me of the Hong Kong cha tan teng places.
Shame I don’t live closer or I would be going for...
