Attended a brunch with a party of 11 on 11th November 2023. The brunch was due to end at 5:30 and at around 5:10, Two of the girls in the group (who were sat next to each other and the only ones that had a full drink from the same pitcher) became violently Ill, Like flick of a switch suddenly. The girls had only had 3 drinks and were evidently not drunk enough to get this Ill. One of them made it to the women’s toilets and spent the next hour and 45 minutes in there, with security saying how they need to get her out. After some time, the general manager came down and said that she needs to go outside. The security reassured us she could go out a back entrance so that she didn’t have to climb stairs or walk past anyone however, the manager refused this and made her walk past everyone in the club when she could barely walk and was not fully lucid. The other 9 members of our party had been kicked out of the venue at this point as the brunch was over and were not allowed to reenter- even when telling staff their friend was throwing up in the bathroom. I kept repeating “this isn’t like her, I really think she’s been spiked” and this was immediately dismissed every time I said this. It states on the website that all staff are trained and have spiking tests however none of these were ever used or mentioned to us. The promotion of the conga line and competitions where you leave your drinks unattended to run to the bar is irresponsible on the venues behalf and when you have had a drink this is the last thing you think about. We were forced from the venue without any medical intervention after being told “there are no medics available”, and shipped into an Uber to go home. Once home, she recieved medical support from an ambulance which did indeed indicate that she had been spiked while at the brunch as this is the only place we had drank from. The police are currently investigating this but the support from staff was completely inadequate and the situation could have ended in a much different...
Read moreChristmas staff party at The Cocktail Bar, not much I can say, definitely not one I will be returning to I’m afraid. We had been booked at another venue initially with a food and drinks package included, they cancelled a week before but handed our booking over to the cocktail bar who offered to honour the food deal and supply a drinks voucher to enable everyone to have a singular drink on the deal.
On arrival we had to argue and complain for everything as our booking was always for 11 people but they only catered for 7 of us.
We were sat right next to the live band which meant we couldn’t even hear ourselves think let alone speak to the person sat next to you, which meant that we couldn’t enjoy the band, or each others company.
The food was ok but only 7 of each item so nowhere near enough food for the 11 of us. The drinks prices were steep £6.50 for a bottled beer (nothing on tap) and for a bar calling itself a cocktail club the menu had around 16 cocktails in total all £11.75 each with 3 sharing cocktails starting at £60.
The staff did try to help us out providing some drinks vouchers saying we couldn’t even hear have any bottle of beer, house spirit or house cocktail, yet when taken to the bar the choice was either a passion fruit martini or espresso martini as the only cocktails we could choose, Vodka and a mixer or a bottle of their cheapest beer.
If there had been enough food and the staff making the expensive drinks actually made an effort and showed some flare and passion in making the cocktails then it would have been better.
I can’t say I recommend The Cocktail Club and unfortunately I don’t intend to return or advise anyone else I know...
Read moreI attended the bottomless brunch here yesterday and it is so bad. The staff are so rude, the food is terrible (half a pizza each) and the drinks are watered down and served in jugs. The entertainment put no effort in - the two hosts maybe sang 1 song each? The rest of the time they played maybe 5/6 more songs, but they played the FULL SONG each time so it got so boring so fast! There was 1 audience interaction and no competitions or just general hosting. To be honest they might as well have not been there and should have just let a Spotify playlist play. On top of that one of the hosts got on the bar and sprayed water over the guests at the end - we moved well out of the way and she still sprayed in on us. It was just not necessary! I have been to the bottomless brunch here once before, at that time even though the food was still bad, the drinks were individual cocktails (as you would expect for the price and a place called ‘The Cocktail Club’) and the entertainment was well structured (we played bingo, there were small competitions, singing, funny audience interactions and the music was varied and changed constantly) so even though it was a bit expensive I thought it was worth the price.
All in all I would not recommend this brunch at all - there are so many other good brunches available in Birmingham with good...
