I recently visited this pub for the first time since restrictions eased. I was sad to see all the original staff had been made redundant earlier in the year, when the Government was paying their wages through the furlough scheme. Two who stood out were Joanne (the assistant manager) and Suki, who I've known longer than I will mention, for giving their ages away. Both experienced, professional, and a credit to any employer. I think part of this pubs atmosphere was the A team that worked here, and wonder why maladroit management decisions caused this to happen. It is also one of the most expensive establishments in Birmingham, and on a par with Westminster prices of a London pub company. Think senior management should look at the current trade levels, compared to prior to their take-over when 6 staff were serving a pub full of reserved tables, not one bar member serving 20 people. Since my previous visit, definitely gone down in their standard. £5.75 far too expensive for Birmingham. And toilet a disgrace. No bolt fitting on cubicle door, and toilet seat broken in half. Would never have happened under...
Read moreGreat bar, cosy and modern inside. Good seating, nicely spaced out for more intimate gatherings. Nice bar staff and a good stocked bar with beers, ales and lagers on tap. Always had a good pint. Have been several times on a Saturday afternoon before and always enjoyed a sandwich from the lunchtime menu. During this last visit (it had been a while since previous visits) the lunchtime menu was about to be changed to weekdays only ☹️ thankfully this was the last Saturday for us to be able to order. Sadly the lunch was very unappealing and uncomparable to previous. Tiny portion of shredded BBQ chicken and slaw on a brioche with fries. Hardly any fries and bun was hardly filled with chicken. Very disappointing. Music was also played far too loud for a lunchtime conversation. Food served quickly and good pint, but we left somewhat...
Read moreFirst visit and probably last for food although i would return for a drink only. Hugely disappointed with some of the food, fish and chips was good and value for money, but the burgers were the issue-small burger and bap with about 10 to 12 chips with a slice of bacon (extra £2.50 !!!!) In total nearly £20.00!!! You would have better value for money with a McDonald's Big Mac. Can't say enough how disappointed I was with those meals, it's like they were children's portions both my lads are over the age of 20. I spent over £200 yesterday and was left feeling robbed. A nice place for a drink but I won't be eating there again in the near future. Lastly on a personal note adding a surcharge of £17 was also a disappointment, I know u could asked to be removed but I believe surcharges should be added at...
