We were 5 people visiting for a Greek cuisine event. really bad experience and everything went so wrong. first of all it was a really bad menu deal, £25 per person but we could see all the itemised prices and the total of possible choices was summing up to less than £25! we were also made to think the starter (pita breads with dips) was one per person but we then only received 2 small plates with a handful of pitas and 6 tiny dips, that was among 5 people (when listed on the menu with price stated £25 pp, so misleading to think you get a starter per person) and only to realise the part of the menu we paid for starters was £5 each, so total £25 for those 2 small plates! But rest of the night went wrong, no one was around to get us our cutlery so we had to get up and find it, we were said that there was no cheesecake left and when we made our minds about desserts, cheesecake was back but there was no rice pudding. to top it all, our order was given to another table so we had to wait for an hour for our food (that was only small tapas plates, nothing the size of a main order). 2 stars as at least staff were friendly and recognised their mistakes and gave us a bottle of wine for free. not sure if it was the fault of the cafe management or the Greek chef's but the whole thing was poorly organised and food...

I have been coming here for just over a year; I grab a coffee to go every couple of weeks, and grab brunch every few months. The coffee is always good, the service is usually friendly, but the quality of food varies hugely.
I have been with colleagues for lunch meetings and their experience is similar.
The key issues seem to be;
Temperature, it appears quite a few items are precooked and reheated. That explains why some items are overdone when served but also often not very warm. +Eggs are normally overcooked, either they precook their poached eggs and reheat or they are sat under a hot lamp. Lack of staff? Seems to be one person cooking and serving, might explain why food is so inconsistent!
On one occasion I asked for my poached eggs to be runny when ordering, only to be smirked at and told that they would be runny and if they weren't I could complain. They were overcooked, I complained and the smirk vanished. No apology, no resolution. Just a sub par brunch!
It's a shame, love supporting local businesses and the food is very good when cooked freshly, but it's so inconsistent that I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending this place for anything other...
Read moreJust an okay experience, nothing to write home about!
Food was of decent quality but very overpriced for what you get on the plate. £4.50 for a croissant that looks like it was cooked from frozen. Chai latte was not very well balanced, mostly tasting of milk and not enough of those beautiful spices that you want. Americano came with no real creama or body to it, it had either been sitting too long before it was served or the coffee is to coarse lacking body and those essential oils you get from the roasting process.
Nice atmosphere, but there is no air conditioning, so if you like sweating whilst eating your food, then you've come to the right place.
Service was average, no real welcome when you walk into the building. First thing you expect when walking into a coffee shop is to be acknowledged. We ordered a pastry that didn't turn up for 25 minutes until drinks were finished. Staff had to be reminded we even ordered a pastry. Otherwise, it wouldn't have arrived.
I believe the jewellery quater has better coffee shops surrounding it. Personally, I wouldn't return or go out of my way to get...
