Authentic Hot Pot & Hand-pulled Noodles — Restaurant in Bristol

This would have been a 5* review had the bill not been quite shocking. We wanted hotpot which we knew they did but it wasn't on any of the menus. It's a bit chaotic in there where you have to get everything yourself including cutlery, drinks etc but we didn't mind as the food was delicious and everything else on the menu looked like amazing value so we're happy to sort ourselves out given the prices seemed low. Sadly, after agreeing what a nice dinner we had, we asked for the bill and was charged £80 for two person hot pot. No drinks or anything. On discussion with the staff who were friendly, they explained using Google translate that hotpot is £40 per person but you can get whatever you want veg wise from the fridges (although half of the fridge items were empty,) and unlimited meat. We ordered beef and pork. The beef came and was a large portion so when the pork never showed we didn't mind. We didn't leave hungry or angry, but feel quite disappointed that the hotpot was so much more money than everything else and we didn't really get the service you'd expect for £40 a head restaurant. Food was excellent, can't get more authentic than this. Pretty basic surroundings, but I don't care when the food is good. Dropped one star because they let some kids use their toilet and the came out with water pistols and squirted us as they walked out the door. It could have been any liquid and the little gits don't realise that this is a criminal offence. 10 years ago, I would have chased them down the road !! Not the restaurants owners fault, but I did mention it to them and told them NOT to let the kids use their toilets. What is worry for me is the Scores On The Door 1 star. I NEARLY ALWAYS check this before eating in a restaurant, but this time we were out walking and just stumbled on this place and went in. Until I found out today about the 1 Star, we were going to go back this Friday when visiting Bristol again, but with my luck, it's just not worth the risk....shame. So although our food was great ON THIS VISIT, I can't give more than a 3 star review when they have a Scores On The Door...

Went here for lunch to try their hand pulled and shaved noodles. The service was okay. We were encouraged to order and pay online via their website but the platform they were using was incredibly slow. This was probably a server issue and therefore they were not at fault. There was no cutlery laid out on our table and we had to grab these ourselves along with paper napkins from another table. Additionally, no toilet paper in the toilet - it wasn’t like they were too busy to check.

The food itself was good but not amazing. The hand pulled noodles in sauce needed additional chilli sauce to give it some much needed flavour. However, the shaved noodles with beef in soup tasted authentic. Portions were good as was the price.

It has potential and it’s nice to see a place do shaved noodles as not many restaurants offer this. Definitely has room for improvement on both the service and...
