Haven't been to a Beefeater for a while and I won't be back in a hurry! Went with family today for Sunday lunch. Two of our party had the lamb and two had the beef. It was £13.99 per meal including unlimited roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and gravy. Cauliflower cheese was £1.29 extra. When the plates initially arrived they looked quite good and a selection of veg was provided in a separate platter, although it would have served two people better than four. The two lamb dishes had a reasonable portion of meat but the beef portions were sadly lacking to put it mildly. It looked to be the equivalent of a 4oz rump steak at best. I would have been been embarrassed to serve such a meager portion to a guest in my home never mind a paying customer in a restaurant especially compared to the lamb portions. Also it took me quite some time to recognise that the charred log shape on the plate was actually a"pig in blanket". The menu offers the beef served pink as standard and we confirmed that this is what we wanted on ordering. Despite that one of the dishes was cooked medium to well. We pointed out our concerns to the very nice server and she passed them on to management. We were assured that the portion sizes were indeed standard but we could have some extra roast potatoes or yorkshire puddings to compensate, you know those that come as part of the unlimited offering!. The overcooked dish was remade and surprise, surprise, the portion size was now much more reasonable. But of course by this point all the veg had become cold. I don't mind paying for good quality and decent portions but I definitely felt cheated and disappointed today. Also my son has recently undergone major knee surgery and is currently walking only with the aid of crutches. He needed to use the disabled facilities and found them very awkward to enter as both doors were spring loaded and one was push in and the other was pull out but he had to hold the first door open whilst pulling open the second door all of which was extremely difficult whilst balancing on his crutches. I'm not sure how a wheelchair user would have coped. So all in all a disappointing return to the Beefeater experience, one I won't...
Read moreHad a lovely experience a few days ago for our anniversary Vicki made it quite memorable for us with a lovely atmosphere and conversation they decorated our table nicely for it as requested for our anniversary they definitely did good with the box of chocolates and petals on the table, the food was amazing maybe a bit more cheese sauce on the nachos but nothing major and definitely a good option to add to the steaks would be peppers and mac n cheese as that’s really popular with steaks but overall amazing experience. Coming from someone that has worked for 12 years in hospitality I can tell a good server and how long they’ve had in the background which I was right in predicting how long she’d worked in the industry based on how welcoming and upbeat she was we had a nice conversation with her a few times so she definitely did her job well and hope she gets on well with University. We’ll hopefully be back again in future. The lady that seated us I could tell had probably been working in hospitality for a while as could have been a little more welcoming but not a big deal I know when a servers having a bit of a rough day so hope she was ok also but glad with the overall experience did hope for more understanding of the issue of the 25% off as I did sign up for it but didn’t receive an email and didn’t know about needing a code after 48 hours so maybe that should have been made clearer on the discount to do 48 hours in advance but other than that was a lovely time thanks to Vicki and the great food and drinks. Would have liked my ribeye a little more pink as I like mine rare but was still nice just a bit more medium I think it was but still...
Read moreReally disappointed. Came here for my 22nd birthday and the first issue was with the waitress checking my passport for ID. She looked at it for a good while, my mum mentioned “she’s 22 today, she’s celebrating her birthday.” the waitress then replied “really” in a harsh tone. And kept staring at my passport as if it were fake simply because of how young i look. Something I am deeply insecure about due to having hormonal deficiencies which has hindered my growth and development throughout my life, which has also deeply affected my health; hence why i look young for 22. I would have understood if this was a shocked tone. However, it wasn’t, it was a rude judgemental tone which made me feel uneasy and judged.
20 minutes later, our drinks finally arrived after waiting a long time.
then half an hour later we were given our food, My parents food was burnt and i had to send back my steak as i asked for it medium rare and it came out well done and burnt.. had to wait 15 minutes for my food whilst my parents were done eating. They didn’t even bother sending their food back because they couldn’t be bothered.
At the end of the service we didn’t tip due to me being offended at the begging and simply receiving slow and uncaring service, especially due to the fact this was a birthday celebration. After we did not tip, the waitress slammed the receipt down and it felt like we were getting kicked out. We were not rude in any way to the staff just tired of the lack of service, as i am a service worker myself and can understand how hard it can be. However at this point in time, there was only me and my parents and another family seated in...
