I used to drink here all the time when I was at university and I never had a bad word to say about the place. But the last couple of times I have went the staff have been incredibly rude. On both occasions I went with friends, one of the bar ladies came over to our table and told us "If you aren't going to order anything else then you'll have to leave." We were all still halfway through our drinks and hadn't been drinking for a long time (15 minutes at the most). When we did finish, she got more pushy and implied we'd been wasting time.
I get that people who sit in a booth wasting time ordering nothing is a pain, but this was not the case on either occasion. If anything it sounds like she was trying to pressure us to buy booze. Read moreI popped in for a pint on the way home after having a few pints elsewhere, only to be confronted by an aggressive barmaid who said I could only have one pint even though I was probably the most sober customer in there.
Fine, no problem. Sat alone having a quiet pint and asking for another was refused with a smirk and a shake of a head, even though I was surrounded by drunks that were clearly more drunk than me.
Staff ought to realise that they are overheads whereas customers are income. Hardly a shining example of how to run a pub.
