The place used to be very good. Now it's horrible. They have recently closed half of the cafeteria and right now it is very poorly distributed. Too many tables for such a small place. Too many. What was once the best place in Edinburgh to work, study or simply spend a pleasant time reading a book while enjoying a delicious coffee, is now noisy, uncomfortable, overwhelming, you can't move. You need half the cafeteria to move so you can get to your table. The experience now is horrible. Also the quality of the cakes has gone down a lot. Been coming here the last few months (sometimes 4-5 days in a row), this place is the best to study, write and read, particularly if you find the library too quiet and the average cafe too crammed. Incredibly spacious and greenery all around. Problem is the lack of sockets, but the cakes make up for that (okay, not really when your laptop is low on battery, but can always ask others to let you charge for a bit while you eat cakes).
