The cafe itself is bright and airy. There are a number of tables inside and outside to sit. We went in a little late (4pm, it closes at 5pm) so the kitchen was closed but we could get drinks and cake. The drinks were good and the tea set was nice. The cakes themselves were delicious and good sized portions. The service was ok, there were around 4 or 5 staff working with the window counter open as well. On entering there is a sign saying "wait here to be seated" but a number of staff looked at me without acknowledging me. There were seats free but the majority had remnants of previous occupants orders on them. We were seated after a short wait, given menus and advised the kitchen was closed. We then had a bit of a wait to get served and it wasn't clear if it was table service or you had to go up to order. Its table service. When we asked what cakes were available as advised on the menu we were told that we'd be better off going to the counter to look. Perhaps a chalk board on fispkay between the service area and toilets would help. Off we went and choose our cake choices. The tea and coffee arrived fairly quickly but no cake. In looking round it looked clear that the staff recognised they had forgotten something and the cake arrived a few minutes later. There is an older woman on the staff and she was very good but I think the others perhaps need to take a little more care and attention and put the customers first. The cakes were lovely but maybe next time I'd opt for a takeaway rather...

Before visiting this Mimi’s we had previously had an excellent experience at the Leith branch. However, the same could not be said for here. The menu is incredibly small in comparison, this is somewhat understandable as the dining area itself is much smaller. Despite this, the most distasteful aspect are the prices. Believe it or not, the food shown in the picture cost us £20. The breakfast roll that consisted of 2 locally sourced sausages cost £6.50 and lacked in flavour. Paying £10 for a sandwich was always going to be painful but for the falafel to be store bought, mashed up into a paste and thinly spread over the roll was a real disappointment. As you can see from the picture, the roll barely lifted with it’s filling. The salad accompaniment consisted of some leaves, a singular halved cherry tomato and balsamic vinegar. At least they provided around 10 salted tortilla chips for extra flavour! The glass bottle of Irn-Bru, equating to the same volume as a can, cost £3.50. The service was fine, although the food was not only of poor quality but verged upon daylight robbery. I have seen the claims of locally sourced produce, but with the vegan sandwich being the same price as meat options and made with evidently supermarket bought produce, it is clear that those with dietary requirements face the burden of subsidising the cost of the more expensive local meat produce. This will be our last visit to Mimi’s and I would strongly urge anyone who values the money they earn to avoid this...

Unfortunately, quite disappointed with my recent visit. None of the cakes were labelled in any way, which made it difficult not only for customers but also the staff member that i assume was fairly new. (Side note: This member of staff was lovely in particular, she was very smiley and just had a lovely vibe despite being quite busy with the full café. She apologised for her English at one point when I was asking about the unlabelled cakes (though her English was perfectly adequate!) and she had to ask a member of staff for assistance. I appreciated when people don't try to pretend like they know everything and can ask others for help.) I am vegan so went for one of the two vegan options (oreo brownie or biscoff brownie) and it was just very sugary and bland and nothing special and this made me extra disappointed due to the price. I have had very good vegan cakes in other places for a lot less. In addition their coffee (along with other menu items) was quite expensive, even for Edinburgh and all milk alternatives had an extra charge, even soy milk. ( I appreciate this is not unheard of) Essentially, the quality of the food and drinks do not match the price and I expected more for...

Nice interior decor and music, friendly staff, excellent organic (fairtrade also???) coffee (flat white and cappuccino see photos), excellent avocado on toast with halloumi, onions and chilli (four stars only since there were no info on fairtrade/sustainability of avocado).. Ayrshire bacon roll and other options for non-vegetarians (not sampled) Tried pumpkin ginger bar and biscoff brownie both excellent but very sweet and caloric we could eat only half of it and brought the rest home! Suggestion: maybe offer smaller portions?

I do miss not seeing Pure Grey but happy to see mini's bakery opened up in its place. It's interiors are very nicely laid out and the sweet cakes are great for a person with a sweet tooth. If you have a sweet tooth will highly recommend and the staff are great. I give a 3 star because in this day and age they do not provide Wi-Fi options to their customers. I know it will be handy to get some net time to leave kids to the school and then finish off emails before collecting them back.
