An imaginative menu, with quite a lot of choices for vegetarians, but the printed menu is nearly impossible to read because it's in such a tiny font. THE MUSIC WAS UNBEARABLY LOUD, and my friend and I couldn't hear each other. I could actually feel the music vibrations in my bones. We asked to have the music turned down twice, but that didn't happen, so we finally sat outside in the pretty but very uncomfortable chairs. The food and coffee were lovely, and very invitingly presented, but the (very young) waitress kept coming by attempting to clear away our food and coffee before we'd finished. The restaurant was only about half-full, and on this grey day with rain threatened, nobody was eyeing up the outdoor seating, but my companion and I were made to feel rather unwelcome, despite having just spent over £40. It's a shame, because the premises are lovely, with nice booths and other seating options, and the food was delicious. But I don't think...
Read moreAlways busy at weekends, whenever we’ve eaten here the food has been good but be prepared to wait. Coffee also very good and the roast whatever it is suits me so happy days. Takeaway service on this occasion. Cashier looked desperately unhappy to be there, no smile, no welcome. Great that they prioritise the takeaway, makes sense to ensure people visit, nobody would wait 10 minutes etc. Barista also looked desperately unhappy, doesn’t take much to give the suggestion you care even if you’ve got to fake it. Proceeded to make me a flat white rather than a cappuccino although I suspect due to the addition of chocolate after the coffee shot rather than on top of the milk (flattened not frothy hence my hypothesis) they might have thought they were making a cappuccino. £4.30, overpriced but the entirety of Stockbridge is so not unexpected and going rate. Anyway, flat whiteucciono was tasty but if you can’t crack an order at least...
Read moreVery disappointed. Ordered the courgette fritters with poached eggs avocado etc. When it arrived it was claggy and quite cool. The plate was stone cold. The worst thing was the eggs were just about raw and had to returned. My husband had eggs royale (salmon, poached eggs with sauce abd capers), which he chose as he had to avoid carbs. When it arrived, it was in a brioche bun, which was not mentioned in the description. His eggs were also desperately undercooked and also served on a cold plate. I barely ate half of mine, due to the raw eggs, and my husband had to leave most of the brioche and some egg. With coffees, etc, it cost £38 and we had to go and eat elsewhere to fill us up afterwards. When I returned my dish with the uncooked eggs I was asked if I wanted a takeaway cake instead!. I declined. A refund for mine should have been in order....
