Following a nice autumn walk through the Botanic gardens and Inverleith Park we decided to have some food at The Raeburn Hotel . I have been coming here for over 50 years and now love a quiet table in the restaurant rather than the atmospheric bar. Despite not making a reservation we did get a quiet table in the restaurant and were quickly made welcome by the waitress and other staff. We were quickly brought some water and made our order for a bottle of house red. We both ordered Beef & Mushroom pie with veg & mash potatoes. The food was good especially the mash but more veg would be nice. The pie, well I only had three pieces of meat along with mushrooms in a very runny gravy so probably wouldn’t have it again. I am a great fan of Steak Pie at The Black Ivy which is full of meat and nice gravy so maybe a bit biased! We followed our mains with Sticky Toffee pudding & ice cream and a cheese board. All very tasty but thought the cheese board was a bit small for the cost. All in all we had a nice meal in a place we love but for £96 would expect...

My friend and I had the full Scottish breakfast. My wife have the porridge and my friend’s wife had a bacon roll.
Service was very friendly and efficient.
My breakfast was really good. I am not usually a fan of haggis, but this one was outstandingly good as was the black pudding.
My wife said that her porridge was also very good.
I highly recommend this place and do get stuck in to the full Scottish breakfast!
