Disappointing Breakfast Visited after a work meeting and expected a freshly cooked breakfast! I was greeted by a very friendly member of the bar team by the name of Amy! Well what a pleasant first reaction to the place and surrounding area! A member of this team that scores highly on customer service in my opinion! Well it started of great but after a what seemed like fifteen minutes I was served my full English and I did not expect what looked ok but not what I deserved after the kitchen staff provided it somewhat late! Bacon was dry and hard , The beans were cold but reduced to what looked like lumpy orange wallpaper paste! Toast was cold and rubbery and the whole thing seemed like it had sat waiting under a heat lamp which turned the package butter into liquid? I was disappointed to say the least and didnāt feel like complaining as I was very late for my next meeting! Any way I was asked by Amy if everything was ok and I did mention my concerns to which she was very apologetic! Thank-you Amy ! If I could have waited my issues would have been rectified but like I said time was not on my side! My point is the front of house needs an Amy but maybe the backup from a decent cook or a shift manager to look after behind the scenes! Iāve seen this before in many establishments where front of house staff and back of house staff are mis managed by lazy shift managers! Anyway this needed to be said as Amy shone in her role but needs the rest of the team on the same page and not relying on her for the whole experience!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHi I'm Natalie a local guide, my experience was a positive one at the Town Crier this evening, myself and my partner had a table booked for 6.30pm, staff were very helpful and friendly as soon as we came in to announce our booking we did online, we had a reserved table, ordered two drinks and were told we can look at the menu and order at the Bar when ready. My partner had Scampi ,chips and mushy peas, I had Sea Bass, herby mash and green beans, the food was tasty, like homemade and comforting, the chips my partner had were chunky fluffy and not greasy, and he loved his Scampi, I loved my fish, and my mash was lovely!we both had dark berry fruit crumble and custard, had another drink and left, just as the open Mike guy for the evening was setting up, nice chilled atmosphere with good music playing in the background, staff were so friendly we will both come back. Pub is based on corporation street in town, Monday is quiz night, Wednesday is darts, Thurs is open Mike and Saturday is live...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy parents have shown their faces after a shop in city centre for the last few years. I too have joined them a couple of times. The first time last year and the next last month. My parents did say the pub was in decline. I was surprised that I noticed. It's clear as day. What used to be a lively vibrant atmosphere is now an awkward adverse gloomy experience. The young miserable woman now running things is the complete opposite of what is required front of house. A genuine friendly face goes a long way. My parents say they won't be back as regulars anytime soon.
IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER: I do not have the wrong pub. What a ridiculous statement to even suggest. The town crier in coventry city centre next to ikea. Congratulations on the refurbishment. Not sure it's necessary. Perhaps prioritise the chaotic high turnover in staff and improving the quality of the food served. Thanks...
