My company liked the interior, but I personally thought it looks more DIY than rustic, and don't appreciate the unreadable newspaper pasted onto the ceiling. We needed some forethought as before at the same table, maneuvering to fit into some seats as once some were taken, ours were blocked in fully and perhaps not so, but I at least felt pinned between the table and wall; having tables as modular squares I felt we were too close shoulder to shoulder, too.
I asked for a mocha with a cold drink, and yes it was loud but got no acknowledgement of my request, did get the coke and asked if the waiter heard about the mocca but an unclear acknowledgement that time. Second visit I wasn't heard or completely ignored. Third visit to the table we were asked if we'd like more cutlery, came to me and I completely ignored the particular question for "I'd like a mocha, please". I got a response and asked about cutlery again, "yes please, normal cutlery" (as opposed to the steak knives also being offered-i got a fork and steak knife anyway. While the specifics were ignored anyway, I was grateful because the pizza wasn't pre-cut well so the knife was helpful. When a steak knife was offered to the person next to me, the waitress did so with the handle in her hand-the lack of etiquette with this isn't my concern, but the damn sharp end so exposed and without warning, extended out from her person between two necks of the two people opposite. Very disconcerting.
I personally liked my pizza, I love thin-base and liked what I got; the person next to me, though, a vegetarian, carefully observed the stated food ingredients by each dish on the menu which didn't mention meat-not 100% sure, but some pieces looked like meat and tasted that way, said they. They also said it wasn't seasoned well.
I do appreciate birthday things, it's not for me but each to their own. The music, though, when announcing/celebrating it, went on for a short while and way too loud for my liking-i struggled hearing the people around me as it was, but it became impossible while the music and bell was on.
Despite the waitress, namely with a lovely jolly bloke who looked like the owner, the staff seemed nice even as busy as they were.
Attention to detail is something I question of the place, like but not limited to the design and seasoning, the ability to hear and concisely acknowledge word-for-word repeat from the customer, the apparent lack of training or common sense when passing really sharp serrated knives (I really don't think it was a one of). The staff are lovely, the place seemed loud when full (I've always seen it full which may speak...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStaying in Saltburn this weekend and was recommended to try this Italian place. Was fully booked the night we wanted but booked for the next night. Went at 6pm and was already quite busy. Table set up wasn't too bad. Could easily move around. Staff were busy and around often checking everything was OK. Quick to take orders, food came out quickly also. The menu was exciting, with usual Italian dishes and some amazing speciality ones. Lobster ravioli and seafood pasta off the speciality bit were so nice. Starter food was really tasty too as was the desserts and other dishes we chose. Catering for children here was nice to see. My 2 boys even recieved a halloween goody bag after the meal. The staircase up to toilets and toilets themselves really could do with extra cleaning as not so clean as you would expect in a food place. Even walls in restaurant were splashed with wine and food too. Chairs weren't that comfy to sit on for an hour either sadly. But still gave 4 stars for service, menu and food taste. Would recommend and go back again if we were...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI hardly ever leave negative reviews but I really feel the need to leave a review after our recent experience, to simply warn people ahead of any trip to the area. If youāre visiting the area and considering this restaurant, I would not bother. The welcome is none existent, the effort is nil and the food is substandard. My steak was swimming in blood so all the extras with the steak were the same. I love a rare steak but expect it to be rested and served in an appetising way. It was so bad I left feedback and was told the owner had cooked it himself and any feedback would be best given once I had left the restaurantā¦.. I laughed as I felt uncomfortable⦠what does that mean!?! We had main meals and a couple of drinks, and Ā£65 later we felt very disappointed! Too many other amazing places to eat in Saltburn to waste a visit here. Sorry to say that but it is the case. Wonāt...
