Archipelagos Gyros — Restaurant in England

We first went to the bigger restaurant but the portions were kinda small for the price so we tried out the smaller place that was like 5 minutes walk from there.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the team and we proceed to order. Initially the lady at the till looked a bit impatient but it all made sense after when you saw the massive workload they were under. Whe whole team was literally flying across the kitchen making the one order after the other non stop. Definitely a well done to the team. I hope they get paid well because I've not even seen in busy places in london staff working so fast.

The food was great, but of a shame that the gyros is cut so thinn to give volume but then again the price was quite good so I would say it's understandable.

The place upstairs was playing really nice Greek music that suited the place but the whole atmosphere upstairs was not the best. Perhaps with some more decoration it would be more approachable.

I’m quite reticent to give 2/5 as the people working here were very friendly and patient. They also were efficient in prepping gyros and correcting any errors from a deluge of boozy people from nearby pubs.

That aside I love a good gyros and all the usual customs from Greek food. However, the pitas, gyros and tzatziki here was pretty awful. All prepped and mass produce and just really poor. In Greece you can get the most beautiful gyros for about €4. Here it’s £8 for tasteless chicken souvlaki and the most woeful tzatziki you can ever imagine.

I’m not keen to downplay a hard working business as they were all lovely and helpful. Sadly the food was genuinely terrible and nothing like what you’d get in Greece.

I won’t come back but a novel idea...

I love this place! Everything they do is amazing. Fresh, soft, chewy pitas, perfectly seasoned meats, large selection of fresh sauces, the chips are the best chips you will get in Brighton, even the salad they put in the gyros has more flavour than any kebab equivalent.

Service is friendly, polite and lighting fast!

There's a few seats inside and a few more upstairs, but it's not a huge place, so you might not always get somewhere to sit. It seems to be very clean inside with tables cleaned after each customer leaves.
