Bert's Pizza and Gelato is a popular restaurant located in Hull that offers a delightful dining experience for visitors. If you're looking for a place to catch up with friends over a cup of latte and olives, this is definitely a spot worth considering. The environment at Bert's Pizza and Gelato is welcoming and conducive to relaxation. The interior design is contemporary, with a cozy atmosphere that encourages conversation. The seating arrangement is spacious, ensuring that you and your friends have enough space to move around comfortably. The restaurant is well-lit, making it an ideal place to work or study if you're looking for a change of scenery. The latte and olives are a great option for those looking for a light snack while catching up with friends. The coffee is freshly brewed and the olives are of high quality, making for a perfect combination of flavors. The serving sizes are also generous, ensuring that you get value for your money. Overall, Bert's Pizza and Gelato is an excellent choice for those looking for a place to catch up with friends over a cup of latte and olives or drink or snacks of your choice. The restaurant provides a comfortable environment, delicious food, and excellent service. I highly recommend it!

3 words: Oh. My. God. From the moment we walked through the doors and inhaled the delicious smells of the food. To the moment we left with truly filled spirits (and stomachs). We were kindly greeted inside the entrance by a polite young lady who asked if we had a reservation - which is currently required in line with their covid policy - and swifty seated us, even though she seemed rushed off her feet. We were waited on within a few minutes, in order to get us some drinks. We had a lime soda and an Americano, which were absolutely delicious. The milk for the coffee even came in a miniature milk bottle which was extremely aesthetically pleasing. A few moments later the waitress came back to take our food order. We decided to get mozzarella wedges from the side menu as a starter. They were huge. Piping hot. Covered in mozzarella and herbs. And for a main we shared the "no.3" pizza from the menu which was slightly spicy and contained herbs, tomato, cheese and pepperoni. It's safe to say, this is definitely a go-to if you want italian inspired food which is affordable and beyond perfection. I will definitely be visiting more often!

My wife had been here before with a friend but this was my first experience (though we had been to its original restaurant on the way to Hornsea). It’s easy to park with a large multi storey very close by but we managed to park for free on the street. It’s feels large inside when you walk in and has great views over the rivers Hull and Humber. Tables are well spaced. The serving staff were all friendly and helpful. We went for pizza so this narrowed down the menu for us to chose from. We ordered the antipasto board to start with which had a good selection of meats with bread. It took a while to decide what pizza to order (they have numbers rather than names) but we got there in the end. They have a wood fired oven so we’re looking forward to some crispy bases on the pizzas. We thought the topping were very good but the pizza bases were good rather than great as they weren’t as crispy as we had hoped. We still enjoyed them! We were quite full so didn’t have a dessert. Overall we thought £62 for the 2 of us for a beer, coke, shared starter and 2 pizzas was on the high side so not sure we will be back regularly.

Title: A Symphony of Exceptional Service at Bert's

I am penning this note with immense satisfaction and a deep sense of gratitude for the exceptional service that I've consistently experienced at Bert's, a restaurant that has become my second home. There is a rare, beautiful blend of passion, commitment, and warmth in the staff that has made me a regular visitor, with every visit as engaging and satisfying as the last.

Alicia, with her radiant smile and heartfelt service, has a unique way of making everyone feel welcomed and cherished. Her charming demeanour is more than inviting - it's magnetic. She remembers my preferences to the dot, and even anticipates my needs sometimes, going above and beyond in ensuring my comfort. Alicia's approach to service is not just professional but personal, making every interaction with her a delight.

Then there's Kii, the embodiment of warmth and attentiveness. Kii seems to have a sixth sense for when I might be in need of something, never intrusive, but always there at the right moment. I recall one evening, I was in deep conversation with a friend and barely noticed my glass was almost empty. Like a silent guardian, Kii was there, refilling it with my sparkling water, ensuring the evening flowed as smoothly as our conversation.

Liam's energy and dedication are as addictive as the dishes served at Bert's. His incredible work ethic and efficient service give the place a vibrant, homely feel that cannot be imitated. He has this wonderful ability to get things done with haste, and seamlessly serve the whole restaurant with ease to provide a perfect dining experience every time.

I would be remiss if I did not mention Josh, the magician in the kitchen. I fondly remember my first encounter with his culinary prowess. It was a simple, classic dish, but the way Josh presented it, with his special twist, turned it into a sublime experience. His attention to detail, creativity, and unwavering commitment to quality make every dish a masterpiece that leaves a lingering taste of delight.

Lastly, but by no means least, there's Anastasija. Her engaging ever-presence is the undercurrent that keeps Bert's running like a well-oiled machine. She has a knack for understanding the subtle nuances of service, ensuring every element of the dining experience is immaculate. One time, entertaining my request for a “surprise drink”, she combined delicate notes of elderflower, black current and tonic to present me with a wonderfully refreshing beverage. This was a small gesture, but it left an indelible mark, showcasing the extraordinary lengths the team at Bert's goes to in making every customer feel special.

The staff at Bert's embody the essence of genuine hospitality: friendly, engaging, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile. They don't just serve meals; they create experiences, and in the process, they've made a regular, devoted customer out of me. This review is but a small token of appreciation for their incredible effort and dedication. To Alicia, Kii, Liam, Josh, and Anastasija - thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for making Bert's the extraordinary...

Diabolical. Never again. Terrible. Rude, obnoxious staff. I decided to go for a nice treat after a visit to The Deep in October with my young son (my first day trip out with my son I might add) as the cafe had stopped serving hot food at The Deep and I wanted a warm meal after our pleasant trip around the aquarium. It should have been a lovely end to an enjoyable day out but it ended up being the opposite end of the spectrum from my expectations. The first staff member I met was horrible and rude (the guy with the dyed blonde hair), no welcome at all, just plain rude and obnoxious, demanding I wear a mask despite being exempt. The place was dead, one family sitting at the far end of the premises around the corner and the place is huge. I explained I am exempt but the guy proceeded to say that I needed an exemption card, I explained I do not need one as the gov website states and that he was going against government advice. I asked to speak with the manager but was denied and given some lame excuse. He refused to let me walk 10ft to a table to sit with my son without wearing a mask when the place was dead. He then proceeded to verbally abuse me. This person has a massive superiority complex and enjoys having a distorted misplaced sense of control over people, this sort of person has no place working in the hospitality industry. He thrust a menu at me, I decided to leave as I will not allow anyone to behave in such a way towards me or think it's ok to mistreat me. His behaviour was intimidating and he seemed to get much pleasure from this, I was certainly not going to give this place my money or spend any time there at all. I called him on it and told him his behaviour was disgraceful and was met with hostility. He proceeded to have a go at me and was verbally abusive towards me as I was walking out the door. He is a disgrace to your profession, his behaviour was deplorable especially in front of my two year old son. We left hungry and upset with nowhere else to go as I don't know the area and decided it best to leave Hull to find somewhere else to eat, it was over two hours later when we ate from a random Chinese takeaway. Thanks for the warm welcome Hull. Bert's, your staff need a good talking to or better still getting rid of people like him as it's affecting your business and losing you money, an utter disgrace. You obviously don't want customers in these trying times if you allow this behaviour...

This was our first time at the Hull restaurant after eating at the Brandesburton one a few years ago. The food was lovely - fresh ingredients, well presented & good portions. The service & atmosphere however did not match up to the food. We waited for nearly 10 minutes to be seated with staff wandering past without even acknowledging we were there or saying they’d be with us in a moment. Eventually we were seated & soon had drinks & had a placed our food order with a waitress who seemed like she would rather be somewhere else. We ordered starters but our pizzas arrived first. As the server put them on the table I said we hadn’t actually had our starters yet & was told quite sharply “well it didn’t say starters on the order so it’s all coming out together.” She then turned & left before I could respond before hurrying back, dumping the starters on the table & leaving again clearly not wanting to discuss the matter. We were hungry & despite the mix up the food looked lovely so we put our mains aside and got on with our starters. The rest of the food was very nice, although we did hurry to eat our starters to avoid our mains getting cold. The service throughout was inattentive with the staff (both servers & chefs visible in the open kitchen) looking bored & miserable. The waiting staff scurried around avoiding eye contact with customers & all seemed stressed, even though the restaurant wasn’t that busy, which made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. Had the atmosphere been better we would have stayed for another drink & to try the amazing looking gelato but all in all I wouldn’t recommend or visit again. Such a shame as the food was lovely but the service was a...
