We specifically searched out free musuems and came across the Musuem Quarter in Hull. Parking was nearby, and wasn't extortionate (though the current road works meant we had to go over a bridge to back on ourselves, but I digress). From the moment we walked in, the staff were super friendly and welcoming - happy to allow us big kids to do the trail. Straight away, you walk through to a huge wooly mammoth and the exhibition is a walk through the beginning of time. Really great for kids, really interactive and lots to see. Staff are really friendly and helpful all the way through and a great trail to keep kids entertained! Makes for a great day out and theres a beauitful courtyard, so pack a picnic and enjoy these great (FREE!) museums for a great full day out!

We arrived on a quiet October afternoon and were greeted by a pleasant lady who explained the layout and how to use the lifts. My wife uses a portable mobility scooter (the most popular make) and this just fitted into the wheelchair lifts, so we were able to go everywhere. Some of the corners were a bit tight, but scooter users will be used to doing the odd three-point turn. The variety and scale of displays was astonishing. We'd not visited the East Riding before so were fascinated to learn all about its history, all the way back to the Stone Age. Plenty of staff were on hand if we had any questions and the whole visit was just a really nice experience. Marvellous that this resource is provided free but donations are welcom from those who are able...

This museum is something different. I visit museums all over the country and in Europe too. It is not the biggest but is very interesting. Everything is about the experience, the age of the visitors. Kids these days are more interesting in phones and apps on the phones ( I have a 13 year old daughter) ,but I stopped her to play with the phone, and she became interested. Is a museum special because you can see things from around 80-100 years ago , 1000 years ago or older. Is something for everybody . Archaeology , paleontology, or modern days( cars, buses, shops, carriages, etc) . Go and you will be happy after ,cos you don't waste few hours...
