Not for us! I am rating 3x because overall the B&B offers everything you need but this is not for us. Good location with parking 3 minutes away (NCP Parking for less than £10 for 24hours) this is located in the old building so expect old furniture and finishes with old carpeted floor. The comments below are only to help other people rather than point the finger. Clean linen & towels, good amount of tea & yorkshire tea bags and bottled water, shared iron board and hair dryer available. Shared bathroom & toilet ( 2x separate toilet, 1x shower, 1x bath available but all very clean) they accept dogs. There are games for children available but I won't bring my child here! Located on the top of a lively pub (we had karaoke night, we couldn't hear the music but our room was facing the main entrance and you can hear people talking, drinking, shouting) we could hear people from next door. We stayed in room 1 and the window didn't close properly. We heard the seagulls all day and night to the point I couldn't deal with it anymore... Have no idea how people can live with these. Unbearable! Good value for what you get. Breakfast £8 extra, not top quality but good portions. Check in could be better. No information anywhere for residents. The lady was polity but she didn't explain things very well unless you ask. She even left me alone without telling me where to go, or the room number or where to find the room key (which is left on the door) etc. The pub itself it's very pretty. They have potential if they...
Read moreJust returned from a 3 night stay with my wife and two Staffordshire bull terriers and what a pleasure. What we have is a traditional British pub unspoilt by modern gimmicks. Several keg lagers and 1 keg beer, plus 2 constantly changing cask ales of which hobgoblin and Longwood forty inner were on pull. I stayed on the Longwood and helped damage the contents as Barry keeps the beer excellently. Both Barry and Ellie are lovely, sociable hosts whom cannot do enough for you. The pub is very dog friendly and they can join you at breakfast if you've booked one and choose to do so. The breakfast was £6 and had everything and also offered a vegetarian cooked breakfast,YUM!!!. The rooms were proper old school, basic, but clean and with gorgeous immaculate white bedding. We slipped like logs. There were two clean toilets and two bathrooms on the same landing as the rooms, so not en suite, but who cares?, I don't. I cannot rate this place highly enough. Smoking area available for those who choose to send two safe car parks on north street where the BLACK LION is. Thank you Barry and Ellie, you're a lovely couple as are you're staff. See you in November for four nights this time. Godbless Dean and Shirley Hufton, Albert...
Read moreJust home from a 2 night stay and it was so nice, my room was so clean and the staff was very nice and helpfully, they even stored all my luggage for the day cause I was out by 10am and my train wasn't until 5:30pm so I would definitely highly recommend this place and I will definitely be staying again . I thought because it was above a pub that there would be noise when I was trying to sleep but I never heard anything, with the window shut and there is a few safety does so that stopped any noise traveling up so it will b perfect for families with young...
