Oh I have such mixed feelings about this place! First of all, I LOVE the food selection in person. The food is fresh, the patisseries are delicious and they serve my favourite menu item ever, which is the caramelised apple canadienne crepe. It's so delicious! Unfortunately the past couple times I've had it, the crepe was burnt. But please never remove this menu item! I also love that there is a prayer area inside.
A complaint I've had for a while are the really old and dirty menu cards. I wish they took up customer reviews from over a year ago. Laminating the menus is a lot more hygienic. The leaflets are so dirty, I now refuse to touch them.
The customer service has been really hit and miss. Over half the times I've been here, the staff have acted like they were held at gunpoint to be there which makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.
The coffees I've had don't taste great here, especially the pistachio latte
The menu on delivery apps does not match the in person menu, which is really disappointing. (please at least add the canadian crepe to uber eats!!). It's an entirely different menu and most of the time it doesn't let me check out. Just another example of requiring some updated attention to detail
All in all, I love this cafe and that it fills a gap for delicious fresh food and french patisseries which are my ultimate weakness, and the crepe i love so much of course! The cafe seems a bit run down though, lacking attention to detail to things like the battered menu leaflets and dusty decor. The staff makes me feel bad for them and I wish the delivery platforms were updated. It's also one of the only places I'd rather skip ordering a coffee with my meal.
I'm really rooting for this cafe. I know they opened a new branch and I would love to check it out. I hope some more love gets put into the old branch
Would also be great to provide wifi and sockets to make it suitable...
Read moreJust to clarify, this review is for the new Chloe Gourmet that recently opened in Leicester next to Chilli Flames, which doesn’t have a Google review system set up yet.
Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We traveled two hours to Leicester specifically to visit this place, but it turned out to be underwhelming.
There were seven of us, and we each ordered a different type of breakfast. Unfortunately, the dishes arrived at 10-minute intervals, forcing us to start eating before the food got cold. This left some of us finished while others were still waiting for their meals—very inefficient. To make matters worse, the last dish we were expecting (which was identical to the first one served) arrived almost 30 minutes after the penultimate dish.
I ordered the chicken bagel, which turned out to be a small bagel served like a burger, with most of the plate covered in salad. It felt as though the bagel was the side dish, not the main meal. To make matters worse, the bagel was extremely chewy and difficult to eat.
We also ordered a teapot for two, which barely filled 1.5 cups, two-thirds of which was water. When we raised this with the manager, they blamed us for “using too much tea” rather than offering a solution. Instead of resolving the issue with a gesture of goodwill, we were told we could either pay for another teapot or settle for boiling water.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience that cost us just under £90. I would recommend saving your money and choosing a place with better portion sizes, fair pricing, and...
Read moreCame back with my partner after about a year as the weather was nice and we enjoy their outside seats. We ordered 2 breakfasts, a hot and an iced latté. Coffees came straight away and we waited around 30 min for the breakfasts which is reasonable. The only issue is that when the food came the hot latté had already turned cold as we were naturally waiting for the food to enjoy our drinks with. I politely asked the lady to change the hot latté as it had gone cold while waiting for food. The glass was full and I had only took one sip to see if it was still warm enough. For some reason, this didn’t go as smooth as I planned and the girl offered to "reheat" it. I don’t know if she meant microwaving it or re-steaming it but both are gross considering you don’t steam or microwave a cup that already has espresso shot and syrup it in. When I pointed this the girl rolled her eyes mumbled a totally unnecessary comment (Oh so you wanna whole fresh one!) but eventually agreed to swap the drink. 20 min later, after we finished the food, the coffee was brought out and of course it was the exact same cup that got reheated judging from the weird colour/texture but I didn’t bother making any comment as they clearly couldn’t care less. We were planing to get mocktails and desserts afterwards but decided to go spend our money elsewhere. It’s so sad to see businesses degrading like this because of teenagers that are only there to collect their hourly wages without caring about the...
