Miserable experience, travelled over from. North Lincs to finally try these infamous burgers, unfortunately the weather turned and it was a cold, wet day outside. The place looked a bit like step toes yard inside with chairs and tables piled about but we saw a table and was glad we could enjoy our meal out if the cold. However the guy serving wouldn't allow us to eat in, when.taking our order he asked about sides and I pointed out to him that we would no longer be able to order sides as we'd have to stand on the street in the rain to eat. He just laughed at the loss of trade and our predicament - that's as one customer service is that!! So we could feasibly only order a smoked dope Burger each.
I'd had a pint at a pub and whilst waiting popped to the customer toilet and got moaned at for that because weirdly they might be disconnected - toilet and taps worked! If you don't want people to use them put a sign up - I already had to eat my burger in the rain, I apologise for not also wanting to be bursting for a wee just ruin it even more.
Burgers were nice and juicy but very tiny, not the big burgers they show online or dish out to YouTube bloggers. They were not much bigger than a 99p McDonald's cheeseburger when wrapped up.
So we left our cold shop doorway around the corner still hungry and deeply disappointed. £15 for tiny burgers and poor attitude.
Warn on your Facebook pages and Web images that you don't want any eat in customers - it'll stop people wasting time and...
Read moreThe first time I went to Dope Burger I was inspired only by morbid curiosity. My mother was otherwise occupied at the art gallery and me and the father were walking about the docks feeling peckish (and a few years back, Hull had little choice in decent eateries). We knew we could never drag her to such a location untested. Behind that curious facade is Hull’s best food! The meal was so good, we took my mother the next time we were in town and were amazed she agreed with us. Since, it has become regular place to visit whenever I’m in Yorkshire and I always direct friends there too. The menu has a great range and is suitable for most diets and allergies. We favour the Fondu burger or the Amsterdam. The chips are excellent - especially the cheesy beef brisket barbecue ones. Living down south, I’m always elated with the northern chip-spice experience. The refurbishment has been done well and eating in is now a very comfortable experience. I’d also say that it’s great to see the owner in there doing a lot of the chefing - there is a huge amount of care and attention that goes into the food and even when not there, it’s clear other chefs have been taught well. Don’t let the facade fool you, there’s a reason BBC said this is Britain’s...
Read moreUnfortunately have to add to the poor reviews for this place. Overall I would say over hyped, over priced and very poor. Ordered through the website on reading the descriptions the food pictured looked and sounded great and also it was 2 for 1 so that looked like a deal. However thats where the positives ended. On arrival for collecting at the Witham store we were met by somebody who looked like they hated the place, and thats hardly surprising given they seemed to be getting a berating of another fellow member of staff/supervisor. Order collected I decided to add 2 cans of Fanta = £5 for 2 standard cans, I mean even service stations dont charge that. After spending around £38 on a hotdog, burger and 2 fries (and remember this is still 2 for 1) we opened our food to find nothing like. The pictures, my sons hotdog had sauce on one half and looked like it was thrown together and the fries chilli fries we ordered (expecting fresh chillies and coriander etc... as shown on the site) were lacking any fresh ingredients at all. Thankfully my chicken burger was alright (5/10) and had salad in but otherwise I've had better burgers and food in general at Weatherspoons for half the price. Very...
