What a great drinkery! Central location, friendly staff, a really warm and authentic atmosphere, lovely beer and some really great bands playing in a well-equipped live gig room with its own bar. No beer garden as such, but there is a little smoking yard contained internally within the walls of the building, something like a quad in amongst school or office buildings, which is a cool feature; but it's really the building itself, the decor, the staff, the attendees and the bands that play that make this place what it is. The Duffy's Bar Orchestra are the resident band, playing a soulful selection of charming folky tunes. The gig room is compact and dark and caters for the punk & Metal community. Many gigs are free or donate what you can. Close parking is a struggle especially at the weekend.
