I've eaten at Embers at least a handful of times now, and a review is long overdue. Though the restaurant has been established for almost a year, the expertise of the chefs and front-of-house staff has cemented Embers' place as a go-to eatery in Scarborough.

The ingredients are fresh, locally sourced, and turned into some of the best dishes I've eaten in a long time. Since opening, I've tried the duck balls, pan-fried halloumi, lobster, wood-fired pizza, Sunday beef lunch, and steak burger — and all are cooked to perfection. If you're visiting them, don't fall into the trap of finding something you love and sticking with it. New additions crop up on the menu frequently and you'd only be cheating yourself if you didn't give it a go.

Beyond the exceptional food, Embers offers a relaxed and friendly dining experience that feels genuine. So often when you eat out, you get the sense that they're following a script and ticking a checklist of things they feel they should be asking. Here, the staff are a genuine delight. Most recently, we had Beth looking after our table, and like her colleagues, I can only sing her praises. She was warm, helpful, and attentive — and all without being overbearing.

To make booking easy, you can now reserve a table through their website. This is something I would strongly recommend you do as tables fill up quickly — though that is a testament to the reputation Embers has built. In short, if you're looking for fantastic places to eat in...

Known Dan and Embers since the pop up takeaways of COVID days. It was fantastic food even then, to which we said maybe they could be our caterers for our wedding. We were so very pleased to see a restaurant opening up shortly after, which we went to for mother's day. Having also eaten in the restaurant since it opened, it was a no-brainer when we asked Dan if he really would cater for our wedding, and I shouldn't have been surprised at the food on the day.. but everyone was blown away. I cannot recommend Dan and his Team enough! The food was phenomenal, and there was so much of it - no one was going to go hungry, that's for sure! Not just the food though, because the Team were absolutely amazing. Professional and organised but also attentive, friendly and so accommodating to everyone's needs - from vegetarians to coeliacs. I highly recommend them, and if we're ever looking for caterers again for an event, we will be coming to Embers to provide it. Thank you guys, and I'll see you in the...

We really enjoyed our evening, the food was fresh however the chicken wasn’t “marinated” more topped with around a tablespoon of sauce. So although tender and cooked really well, the chicken was mainly plain chicken. However it was a good size breast and perfectly cooked so I can see why it was £19. I wouldn’t recommend taking children, there was no kids menu, it was nice for the waiter to suggest pizza and chips but it came to around £14 then I asked for just vanilla ice cream for the kids but was given the trio from the menu, all in all 4 lots of vanilla ice cream for the kids cost around £30. Which is far too much, even in a very nice restaurant, that can’t be justified. Overall, it is beautiful inside, staff are amazing, food is amazing but I wouldn’t take my children again. I think it’s fine not to cater for children however, this should be told over the phone when...

There are not enough stars to rate Embers of Scarborough. Hidden discreetly at a 5 minute walk from the centre of town, Embers has an amazing atmosphere from the moment you step in until you leave at the end of your evening. My wife and I started with cocktails (Espresso Martin and a Passion fruit Cosmo) Gorgeous food, pulled pork tacos and a king prawn with chilli and garlic. Main, Medium Rare steak and an amazing shake dish served on a bed of fresh mussels and prawns. No room for dessert but managed a coffee and a local home made chocolate. Fantastic evening.. thank you.

What can I say! Absolutely amazing gorgeous food. Deffo recommend a visit, lovely staff, great atmosphere and top chef. I had the fresh mussels in a pomodoro sauce for starters, never seen bigger mussels in my life, so plump, really nice. For my main I had the marinated chicken in a chimichurri sauce, again gorgeous, lovely flavours. My partner had the giant mozzarella sticks for starters and her main of asian sticky fried belly of pork with egg fried rice, again both gorgeous. By this time we were both stuffed, so we shared a desert of lemon pie with sorbet, yummy.

Enjoyed the most amazing meal at Embers. It's a compact venue but certainly packs a punch in terms of flavour. Best hummus I've ever had, and the tartiflette was something else, totally delicious. My friend was bowled over by the perfectly spiced chicken paprikash. Generous portions to the point that there was, sadly, no room for dessert! Even the water was served beautifully, with fruit, herbs and cucumber in the bottle. Friendly and attentive service too. Highly recommended.
