Apparently, "Fumo" in Italian translates to "really bad service"! ..and if it doesn't, it should do. Avoid this place at all costs! Took my daughters there this evening for a quiet meal. It was relatively quiet so I was surprised to wait almost 30 minutes to order our food. One of my Daughter's found hair in her spaghetti! Not on it, firmly wrapped around it. She removed the hair, put it in a napkin and took it to the waitress. The waitress didn't say anything, but shortly after she spoke to the Manager. From then on we were completely ignored. No acknowledgement, no apology, not even a check in to see if the rest of the food was ok...nothing. We were invisible! At the end of the meal we were presented with the full bill for £51...still no apology or acknowledgment of the poor food hygiene. Once I had paid the bill, I asked to speak to the Manager. He was very reluctant to come to our table! After about ten minutes he came over and I explained the situation to him and told him how very disappointed we were with the way the whole thing had been handled. He was not in the slightest bit interested. The best he could muster was, "nobody in the kitchen has long hair"! Incredible! We must have planted it? I have never experienced such poor service in all of my life. None of the staff could care less that they had disappointed customers or poor food hygiene standards. The Manager had no clue about customer service and his attitude was appalling, so why should his staff be any different. I will never set foot in Fumo again, and I would strongly warn others not to waste their money (unless you want to be treated with contempt). There are lots of nice places to eat in Ryde, however this is definately NOT...
Read moreI booked a table very last minute for four people as the place I had originally wanted to go to was no longer an option due to the weather not being ideal. They were very accommodating, got my booked in exactly when I wanted (late evening), and everything was good to go. When it came to ordering, I ordered the duck leg with mash potato, cabbage and jus, my partner ordered the chicken tagliatelle and my parents both ordered the beef tagliatelle and then we shared the chilli con carne fries as I couldn't resist not trying them. When it arrived to the table it looked absolutely beautiful that I snapped a quick couple of pictures of my meal, but everyone else had already dug in. The taste of my meal was wonderful, but nothing could prepare me for how wonderful the chilli fries were. Everyone on the table loved them. And even my partner who is so picky about restaurant food and always complains of no seasoning had nothing but good words to day. We were blown away, and I can't believe I haveng tried Fumo33 before when it is just up the road from my house!! Will 100% be going back and definitely getting some more...
Read moreI was sceptical when this place changed from Olivos (Italian food) to Fumo33. I was worried that the pleasant staff and good service would be lost. To my surprise and delight most of the staff have been kept on and have been joined by some thoroughly lovely people. My partner and I had a large platter roast dinner and there was plenty to share, even enough to take home for yummy afternoon snacks. Great service and great food. The interior has been redone and modernised with an industrial look. The addition of a wood fire oven has me drooling at the prospect of tasty pizza and bbq, which I cannot wait to try. All in all well worth a visit and the price is very reasonable.
Update to my review: Fumo33 now offers a variety of vegetarian options and even the chance at making menu staples vegan if possible. The vegan pizza I had was delicious and my partners vegan risotto was awesome. So there is now something for everyone, no excuse not to go try the...
