Let’s compare Mowgli (all show (fancy lights in restaurant) and over added sugar in your dish) to an authentic you could have been in India somewhere. Curries cooked to order. Great choice. Waiters knowledgeable. And probably the best description I’ve had of a curry ‘spicyness’ Spicy in your mouth Spicy in your tummy I went for spicy in your tummy. Kolapuri lamb. My wife Korma. Pani puri to start. The food was very Indian. Certainly the curries. Lamb looked as if it had been cooked to soft and flaky and in the sauce. Instead of just dropped into sauce afterwards. My curry was well balanced and spicy in the tummy. The korma was not over sweetened and like a proper korma should be had coconut and nuts in sauce to add sweetness. The portion size for the price which is high for me at 17£. Was a good size portion and certainly enough to take away the sauce which you get masses of. We took away my wife’s sauce and added some king prawns in it to make another meal for two at home. The pani puri was mild. I could have done with more spice in the chaat or the water. But I guess it’s a starter so flavoured mildly to get you started. I didn’t personally like the street market style of restaurant. But that’s a personal thing. They had a dj and toilets were ok clean too for UK standards. Service was ok. The head waiter was efficient. Service is added to the bill. Very much recommended to tourist trap fashionable Indians like Mowgli !

I recently visited Jamun in Brighton for some evening snacks, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The restaurant has a warm, inviting ambiance, and the staff was attentive and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Positives: The snacks we tried were truly impressive, both in taste and presentation. The flavors were authentic and rich, with each dish offering a unique blend of spices that brought the essence of India to the table. A highlight of our visit was the Indian chai—it was the perfect treat, with just the right balance of spices and warmth, making it a comforting and satisfying choice. Areas for Improvement: While the food was enjoyable, I did find some of the dishes to be on the pricier side for the portion sizes offered. For an evening snack menu, a few more options at a more accessible price point would enhance the overall experience and make it more inviting for casual visits. Conclusion: Jamun is a great spot for those looking to indulge in high-quality Indian cuisine with a modern twist, even if you're just stopping by for snacks. Despite the prices on some items, the overall experience was positive, and I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re in Brighton and craving a taste of India.

🔥Jamun, Brighton — A Love Letter to the Spice Gods 🔥 If Mumbai and Marrakech had a dinner party in a candlelit Brighton basement, Jamon would be the after-party. The place hums with saffron-scented chaos — all glowing lanterns, thumping sitar beats, and plates that dare you to surrender. I went rogue with my order: Roasted Charra Aloo — tandoor-kissed baby potatoes tangled with five whole spices, curry leaf, and fresh coriander — a dish with attitude. Then the Lasooni Wild Tiger Prawns, charred just enough to whisper smoke and drenched in lemon, dill, honey, and a garlicky yoghurt glaze. Every bite, an explosion — like Holi in your mouth. It’s nothing like the predictable “Anglo-Indian curry night.” This is India unfiltered — fierce, playful, and gloriously messy. It whisked me straight back to my travels across the motherland… minus the jet lag and monsoon hair. ✨ Jamun — where Brighton meets Bombay, and everyone leaves a little spicier.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Jamun Restaurant, and I can't recommend it enough. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality, a beautifully ambient setting, and an aroma that hinted at the delicious culinary journey ahead. What truly set this visit apart was the exceptional service provided by the team. A special shoutout to Rahul, the manager, who ensured every detail of our dining experience was flawless. He personally checked in with our table multiple times to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying everything – a true example of what hospitality should be. Vivek, the supervisor, was equally attentive and professional. He helped us with the menu, offered some excellent recommendations, and made sure every course was timed perfectly. It's clear he takes great pride in his work and in the quality of the service. And I can’t forget to mention Deep, the bar manager, who crafted one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time! His drink was not only beautifully presented but also perfectly balanced in flavor. If you're visiting Jamun, do yourself a favor and try one of his signature creations it’s an experience in itself! As for the food simply outstanding. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the presentation was elegant without being overdone. Every dish felt like it was prepared with care and passion. Whether you're a fan of traditional Indian cuisine or looking to explore new tastes, there's something on the menu for everyone. The restaurant’s atmosphere is both cozy and upscale perfect for a romantic evening, a family dinner, or even a special celebration. The attention to detail in both decor and service really elevates the entire experience. Highly recommend Jamun Restaurant for anyone who values great food, amazing drinks, and top-notch service. Thank you to Rahul, Vivek, and Deep for making our night so memorable we’ll definitely be...

Me and my partner entered the establishment and asked for a table of two. We were asked if we made a booking which we didn’t. We was then asked if we have any allergies and I stated I have an allergy to all nuts/peanuts. The staff member proceeded to say that the chef doesn’t like cooking for people with allergies due to cross contamination and if my allergy is severe they could not accommodate for me. From the beginning it seemed that they did not want to serve me due to my allergy and although the menu does state they will accommodate for people with allergies or dietary requirements. Shortly after we was seated and given menus to look over. After about 15 mins and glances used to the workers to let them know we are ready to order, the staff member came over to take our order. I was told my mains had sold out and as I don’t eat meat only fish the other alternative I had to eat was two starters and no main. After we ordered we waited quite a long time for our food to arrive but once the food did arrive, it was really nice. The food had flavour and was cooked very well. Once we had finished eating our food we asked the staff member for the bill. When he came over with the bill, the staff member also saw we had some left food over and asked if we wanted takeaway containers to which we said yes once he brought the containers over we waited nearly 20 mins for someone to come over and take payment for the bill. Overall the service we received was not up to par but the food made up for that compensation. Due to the level of service we received and waiting 20 mins just to pay, we was not happy with this service and also when people have allergies, telling them that the chef does not want to accommodate for you does come across as being discriminatory. Besides the food being really nice, due to the service I...
