Middleton's is a smaller group of chain of steakhouses starting out in Middleton near Kings Lynn. I decided to visit Leicester's branch with a total of 9 in their group now. The exterior and interior of this restaurant was gorgeous. It had really tall ceilings and it's chic touch without going over the top help retain the buildings character which used to be NatWest bank. I was seen my a host and shown to my booked table promptly. You can also pre order your food online which I had never seen before and nice to have that option. Likewise when seated I was given water automatically without asking. This was a lovely touch to see more restaurants adopting also. I opted for their very reasonablely priced Fixed Price Lunch Menu which at 2 courses for £10.95 or 3 courses for £11.95 this is excellent value. The rest of the menu is also reasonably priced and is cheaper than Miller and Carter overall. Cocktails are priced at around £7. I did note that I had to order from the menu manually as I was not offered this menu on entry and had to get it off their website. The restaurant had nice ambient background music on and given it was warm outside it was suitably air conditioned. Exterior dining tables were avaliable and busy at the time but quieter inside when I visited. One thing I liked was that the starter and main dish came with tissue underneath it which helped given there was only one napkin on the table for those messy eaters. I had the following today: Starter - Garlic Mushrooms Mushrooms are my favourite thing to have. It was in a lemon and herby sauce with sourdough on the side. The sourdough was on the hard side with that extra crunch to it. It was nice that it was separate to the garlic mushrooms as opposed to being on top of it to avoid it going soggy. They tasted fresh and a good pallet cleanser to start with. I received this in around 7 minutes. Main - Minute Steak I opted for this medium rare as per the hosts recommendation. A steak knife was already on the table in advance and I did not need to ask for this. I opted for wedges as a side with this. The steak was cooked exactly to how I wanted it and had a distinct chargrilled taste to it. It was a little chewy but nothing excessive to expect of a minute steak. It had a lean and tender flavour to it and tasted great. The mushroom tasted as expected alongside the tomato. The wedges were a good size and well salted with a crisp outer layer to them. Overall I had no issues! I received this within 12 minutes of the starter being cleared. Dessert - Eton Mess Cheesecake Eton Mess crossed with a cheesecake. I had never heard of a combination in a restaurant before. This worked so well and was very rich in its flavour. A generous amount of berries on the top of it coupled with the vanilla ice cream made it an awesome summer dessert. I received this 7 minutes after the main. Overall, I was very happy with Middleton's given it was my first visit to one. Great value food with friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and good quality for what you get. I did report a hand dryer issue to the team who said they would get it sorted. Toilets are unisex here with individual cubicles. The location also offers Blue Light Card 20% discount Monday - Friday on the a la carte menu only.

What a disappointment. Booked for a small group (9) on my birthday and forced to pre-prder from a 'festive' menu. I opted for the chilli and lime calamari followed by 8oz ribeye, medium rare. The menu stated choice of sauce but had none offered... Our drinks eventually arrived after 45 minutes shortly followed by the first starters... The Calamari liioked like the bottom of a bag bought from iceland, a few scraps of squid in a lot of bredcrumbs cooked in oil that was last changed when the 'festive menu' was introduced accompanied by an undresses salad on browning lettuice ordered at the same time... When the mains eventually started to arrive we were then informed these belonged to another table so we had half the group with food and half without. To make matters worse, what did arrive was mostly cold. 10 minutes later, the remaining mains started to land and my heart sank as I saw the 《10mm 'ribeye' that I received. Just looking at it, it was obvious that it was well done, a prod confirmed this to me. To make matters worse, the fries were so tough they must have been under the heat lamp keeping warm for several hours. This was all served aside the same undressed, browning lettuice as the starter! Given most of us had finished our drinks well before the main course turned up, we were left with only table water for the remainder of the meal... Thank you for a terrible birthday.

Have eaten here for dinner previously and found the steak to be serviceable. Had a walk in Sunday lunch today and it was arguably one of the worst roasts I’ve bought since I’ve lived in Leicester. Alarm bells rang when we asked if the pork was pork belly. The server did not know, and checked with the chef. The chef did not know either. We questioned why the chef didn’t know what cut of pork they were serving. My first piece of advice to the restaurant is to have a chef that is aware of what the ingredients are as I find that beneficial to my own cooking. The portion of meat was laughably small, and overcooked. Potatoes were so dry inside I’m fairly sure they were microwaved. Gravy watery and flat. And yet they were the best bits of the meal. The veg should be considered a war crime. Broccoli was boiled and unseasoned, as were the carrots. Astoundingly, the chef had forgotten the cheese addition to the cauliflower cheese, leaving a tablespoon of cauliflower swimming in an extremely thin bechemel. The cauli was so soaked in milk that the ghost of Thatcher tried to steal the bowl from me and I had to fight her off. The only redeeming feature was a wonderful waitress who couldn’t do enough for her and I sincerely hope she finds work in an establishment more deserving of her ability.

Over all, the most awful place. Not only was it freezing cold and dark in that place, but the table we were seated at was terribly dirty. The complementary jug of water was a nice idea too, but the glasses were also so dirty that we didn't dare to drink out of them. We visited as a family and our adult starters were nice and the set menus seemed to be good value for money. However, our toddler had vegetable sticks as a starter. After she had eaten as much as she fancied, we started to pick on her leftover veggies. The first cucumber I picked off her plate was so old that it had actual mould on it. Absolutely not acceptable!! We complained and gotten the money from our voucher paid out as we did not fancy to continue our meal after that. The lady who initially served us was lovely and took the complaint straight to the manager. We have no intention of ever going back there and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Sad, really, because the menus looked really yummy. We sadly spent the rest of the day being paranoid about the starters we had eaten there... Plenty of great places in Leicester. Would avoid this one at all cost.

We went for the bottemless brunch on a Sunday. We got there at 12 for the 2 hour time slot, it was pretty quiet at this time so seated quickly and was offered our first drink almost immediately. We then ordered, not log after and it came pretty quickly again. This ironically is a small gripe. With 2 hours to be there might be better to have a longer delay before eating or maybe even starters/sharers or something to take up some of the time... Anyway, I had Nachos which were excellent and a lot of. My wife had the chicken burger which was also pretty good. Be nice to have some more brunchy options though, all day breakfast, eggs Benedict, maybe pancakes and bacon? Drinks were all excellent and lots of choice. Beer on tap of course, prosecco which was very good and a good selection of cocktails. Special shout out to our host and general nice guy Reece who was very friendly and helpful. He suggested drinks and was very attentive when it came to ordering more or getting anything else. He added that little bit of friendly and professional appreciatation to our time at Middletons. All in all a good visit.

First visit was a disaster... Cheese was sent back as wasn’t melted and the new one was not melted either Steak we ordered medium rare... and... was medium well... that’s the 18oz Chateaubriand which cost £49.95... and look at that plate, the presentation... 😒🙄🤮 they called themselves a steakhouse? The second one was a lot better at least I see blood but the cut itself and the seasoning was not up to a steakhouse standard. Am I expecting too much?!?! Anyway the service was absolutely amazing and the manager came out to check on us too. So we gave them a second chance to try their “set menu” which was a lot cheaper and more popular and so we thought maybe the food will be better... We were wrong... with that price maybe miller and carter is better, well, at least better presentation. Food wise alone this is 1 star and service is 4/5 starts... some waiter could do more with a smile. 3 stars overall but I will not return anytime soon.
