I recently visited Miras with my family, and I was really hoping for a great experience, especially since my wife loves Asian and Indian cuisine. After running a successful family takeaway for nearly 30 years, she’s got high standards when it comes to food, so we were excited to try this place out.
It started off well. The lady who welcomed us was really nice, and even though she mentioned they were short-staffed and that the meal would take about 30 minutes, we appreciated her honesty. We figured no problem, let’s go do some shopping, and we came back around the 30-minute mark. That’s when things started going downhill.
When we returned, the service from a different staff member felt cold, and it didn’t set the right tone. Having worked in hospitality myself, I know how important first impressions are, and unfortunately, this one wasn’t great.
We ordered lamb chops, specifically asking for them to be cooked medium so they’d stay juicy. But when they arrived, they were anything but juicy. My nine-year-old son, who loves lamb chops, ribs, and steak, took one bite and just said, “Babar, this is dry.” ☹️ That really hit me, because I wanted my family to enjoy the meal, especially since I had high hopes for it.
Then came the lamb curry my wife ordered. Some pieces were decent, but most were fatty and just didn’t live up to what we were expecting. We tried to stay positive and make the best of it, but it was clear the food wasn’t what we hoped for.
What really disappointed me, though, was the lack of interest in feedback. I’m passionate about food, and I know that constructive feedback can make a big difference, especially for a new business. When I approached the staff to offer some friendly advice, I was just told to “put it online.” It felt like they didn’t care to hear it, which was a shame because, if it were me, I’d welcome any advice to help improve the experience.
I always like to give new places a chance, but between the quality of the food and the way feedback was handled, it left a lot to be desired. I really hope they take this as a chance to reflect and improve, because I’d love to see...
Read moreAs an Indian missing the taste of authentic spices from back home and trying to find such dishes in Hull that aren't watered down in bright food colourings and dull flavours, I'd been looking forward to visit Miras all week ever since I read the Arabic name of the restaurant out front. Was hoping it would be mediterranean grill food, judging by the name and was pleasantly surprised when the staff at the counter said its authentic Pakistani cuisine which I absolutely love.
I ordered the chicken biriyani meal with seekh kebab and chicken malai boti. Having tried many biriyanis around Hull, I kept my hopes fairly low while expecting colourful rice and less quantity for high prices. However, as soon as I smelled the food when the bag was handed to me and noticed the mint dressing that came with it along with the spicy sauce, I knew Miras knew what they were doing and stayed truly authentic. The food was mindblowingly spectacular and took me right back home—fluffy flavourful rice that was delicious enough to have by itself, the boti chicken was soft and tender and the quantity was incredible. Prices tend to be slightly higher than other restaurants but its definitely worth every penny for how brilliantly delicious everything is—and how authentic. I'm already looking forward to the next weekend to try more from their menu!
Thank you so...
Read moreWent all the way from Grimsby, last minute plan and boy it was worth the trip. Amazing place. Felt like home. V hospitable. We arrived bit late but he accommodated with a smile on face. We ordered and booked beforehand on phone which did help. Sajji and karahi were outclass and highly recommended. Karahi was not a "meetha salan curry" like most other places but rather it was pure Lahori taste. Had options of both shinwari and butt karahi and we went for shinwari with unique authentic taste. Only thing I felt negative in begining was karahi was predominantly boneless (few bone in pieces) and would appreciate more bone in too in future, but regardless taste was amazingly good so no complaints. Had mild spicy for kids and spicy for adults , both were good. Chicken sajji was just full of flavour too and loved it. Also gulab jaman with kulfa was icing on cake and just stole the show. Not to forget the Karak chai as well was mind blowing. Highly recommend the place. Special thanks to Sagheer sahab & Bilal for the great experience. Hope they thrive....
