Chicken George — Restaurant in England

partner places order with chicken George hull at 19.05 eta was 20.20 - 1 HR 15m is a ridiculous wait in any event for a takeaway less than a mile from my door but at 20.30 not arrived so partner chased up and was told it would be 2nd out the door suggesting it was on and nearly done. I call at 20.55 still no sign of food. manageress at first says it's next out then says it is already out. at 21.20 still not received and I'm about to call when there's a knock at the door - driver with food. bill is £30 but an hour late and over 2hours since order placed. I offer £20 - refused by driver and so I refuse the food. call manageress her answer is sorry we're busy everyone is waiting. but Chicken George is takeaway open to walk in orders. they're not keeping walk ins waiting 2hrs! I explain I am very unhappy with the service and will not be using them again. manageress gets indignant and tries to tell me it was on time. after I point out it was due 20.20 and arrived 21.20 she concedes it's late but explains there were other complaints as they were busy - as if that is somehow justification. I tell her I imagine she will have more than just my bad review to deal with then and she hangs up only to call back on my partners phone to inform us that as I refused a £30 order they will not be delivering to our address again as they can't afford the hit! I'M BARRED FOR KNOCKING BACK THE HOUR LATE DELIVERY!!! NOTWITHSTANDING THE FACT IVE ALREADY TOLD HER I WONT BE USING THEM AGAIN! she then hangs up and I walk into another takeaway and get food in under 20m. had I paid by card I would have been forced to pay full price and I doubt I would have got any refund. the manageress of this takeaway was rude arrogant and simply inattentive to the Just Eat App. orders. it could have been resolved by them indicating at the time of order a realistic time estimate. when my partner called they could have admitted the order had not yet even been started - after the time it was supposed to have been delivered - and we would have cancelled and reordered from somewhere else. they could have knocked some money off the bill as a goodwill gesture when I rang at 20.55 or instructed driver to accept less on delivery given the late arrival of the food bit instead what I got was Barred for daring to refuse an order that was an hour late on it 1hr20m est I am utterly unimpressed with the takeaway itself and the apparent lack of communication between the takeaway and the...

Shame to write a bad review as food is good from here, unfortunately service is not. We called to see where our late delivery was and the owners son answered. He told us our food had arrived 10 minutes prior, which it hadn’t, then hung up when we went to check if it had been left. We called back after to inform him that no food had arrived and nobody had knocked. He repeated the same lie to hang up on us again, (all while talking over us aggressively), but luckily our food arrived shortly after. Other than this, the food is good, and the delivery driver friendly. Customer service of this individual lets the place down. Unfortunately will not be buying from there again after being spoken...

I ordered few pieces of chicken with chips. The guy packed in a box, tape the box, grabbed a carrier bag and blew it open with air from his mouth! This is not acceptable even before COVID. I phoned them back to complain and they said to me I should have spoken to the guy who did it at the time and request for another bag. They probably right but I didn't want to make a scene at the time. I blame the council for not setting a hygiene and safety standards for people who works in food shops and restaurants.
