Called here on a recommendation from a friend, he said get there early, he wasn’t wrong. We got there for 11.50am, it was pouring down, it opened at 12 & there was people before us got a table and were sat down, clearly this wasn’t there first time. It’s not a big place, long and thin, by 12.10pm it was full. We ordered drinks, ( cash or card ) a very big choice, lots of different beers and ciders I hadn’t seen before, guest ales and ipa’s, I had a drink that looked like Guinness but tasted nothing like it, very nice and I had another just to make sure I liked it šŸ˜‚ We ordered Sunday lunch from a hatch at the end of the pub, cash only šŸ‘šŸ¼ Sunday lunch is Ā£15.00 there’s a few extras that are Ā£4.00 each, but there was plenty of food on your plate, very good value for money, I had roast beef & my partner had the beef brisket, we both said the flavours were delicious, the food was nice and hot, a good selection of vegetables Yorkshire pudding were huge. Overall I recommend mr moody tavern, but you do need to get there early, personally I would prefer table service, rather than going to collect the food myself and would happily pay more for this service, but It does add to the qwerkiness of the whole place, it’s quite hip and trendy, not somewhere you would take kids, thankfully there wasn’t any this time & would I go again ? Yes I certainly would. Will try a different dish next time, and of corse I would get there early šŸ‘šŸ¼

Mr Moody's Tavern has a modern rustic feel. There are quite a few booths for small groups to sit together. The staff are excellent, cheerful, very friendly, and welcoming, and more importantly, they have an excellent knowledge of the beers there are selling. There is a good range of beers, lagers, and ciders, including a wide range of bottled beers. The craft beers served are nitro keg, somewhat controversial to real ale enthusiasts, but the super 8 cherry beer was spot on. The London porter was also fabulous, full of flavour with an aroma and hint of chocolate, although served a little on the cold side. It is best to hold the glass and leave it for some time to warm up to get the full flavours and aroma of this great beer. There are no bar games as it is a long, narrow pub there is outside seating to the front. A Great Bar highly recommended.

No wonder this place gets so much great feedback for their Sunday lunches. They're absolutely immense! HUUUUUUUGE portions for £13.50. Everything cooked beautifully. Finally got to sample their lunches & we'll certainly be back. Possibly my favourite porter ever on tap too AND dog friendly. What's not to love?

Absolute let down and poor service from Moodys. We have been to Moodys for a Sunday dinner numerous times and have loved it. My husband wanted nothing more than to go today for his Sunday dinner for his birthday, we had 12 people including 3 2 years olds. We have always been told there is no booking in advance it's first come first serve so if you want a big table come early. I got to the front of the pub at 11:30am half a hour early to ensure we got the big table as previously recommended. I was first in the queue as many can vouch for this morning. When they opened the door there was 2 women already sat in there at the big table and refused to move even when I stated I was first in the que and there was 12 of us and we needed to sit there- They were very rude and did not care. I informed the bar staff who did not care, I went to speak to the kitchen staff who informed it was his niece and he had allowed them to sit there for a special occasion. I informed there was 12 of us including the children who had waited for half a hour for this and none of their table were at the front of the que. They did not put up a notice to inform or advise anyone waiting the big table was not available- even though there is no pre booking (going against there own policy) leaving 9 adult and 3 children hungry. He apologised but it was handled...

This was our first visit & definitely will not be our last.

You have to queue to get in but omg it is worth it. So we arrived at 11:45 & the doors open at 12. There was approximately 10 people in the queue in front of us,

When we entered we found a table near the back of the pub & went straight to the hatch at the back of the pub to Oder the food. This is cash only to order food. I ordered the Sunday lunch with a mushroom wellington. My partner & son both ordered a beef roast. You get a buzzing table mat to let you know when your food is ready to order.

Drinks are available at the bar & for this you can pay by card. We only ordered pepsi max.

The pub soon filled up but we still didn’t wait too long for the food.

Well this is the best Sunday dinner I have had eating out. All freshly good. The mushroom wellington was that good I asked to buy a piece to take home to have with my Christmas dinner.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the food & have being telling everyone we know to go.

1000000 % recommend the...
