Firstly the bar itself is lovely and quirky with 2 generally lovely bar men… however, 1 bar man who served us (didn’t catch his name but the only one with a black cap)… was one of the rudest guys I’d ever met and made me feel very unconfortable! 1st encounter… My husband likes a whiskey & asked the guy if he could recommend a whiskey from the large menu to which he replied ‘none of them whiskey makes me feel sick’… fair enough & each to their own but at least use a different approach. 2nd encounter… do you do any cocktails? Cut me off with a sigh before I finished my sentence & said ‘No we are unique bar and don’t do stuff like that’ again very abruptly. 3rd encounter… can I pay cash to which he replied ‘no and it’s not my problem if you can’t get rid of your cash’! I wish I’d of left right here but we found 2 available bar stools and drank our drinks. The bar stools were in front of fridges that stocked a lot of craft beers… on 2 seperate occasions members of staff came over and politely asked us for access to the fridges to which we moved aside for them. On the 3rd occasion the very rude bar man came over and very rudely said ‘move from here I need access to the fridge’ to which I said the stools were already here and we would move no problem when asked politely as we had done previously to which he replied ‘good as I’ve asked you to move’ the way he spoke and looked at myself was absolutely disgusting and I had to stop my husband from taking matters further as I just wanted to leave!! I very rarely leave negative feedback but this guy has really got by back up and needs educating on how to respect other people! Reading a few other reviews I can see a few people talking about a particular rude man which no doubt is probably him! I hope this is addressed and this particular guy...

Met some friends here on a Friday night for food and drinks. I’d wanted to try this place for a while and thought it would be fun with a good atmosphere. The decor inside and out is crazy and full on and tbh verging on tacky, fake plastic flowers/ornaments, flashing fairy lights and neon signs but we went along with it. When booking to dine you must pre-order food which I did think a bit ridiculous but thought that it was just because it is very small and gets super busy on a weekend in the holiday season. The food menu is basic, sandwiches, fries, wraps, pizza which is what we ordered. The food was ok but the service is what let the whole place down. The guy who brought out our food and ‘served us’ was incredibly rude when one of us was accidentally blocking his path with their chair (it is small and short on space) and he snapped at us to move. He brought out our food and he never came over again. We had no cutlery, no napkins, sauces etc and there was no one around to ask. No one asked if we wanted another drink or looked after us in any way. At the end the same grumpy guy took our plates away and I told him that we had not been given and cutlery or napkins and he just said ‘they are over there in the corner’. Well no one had told us this so I guess you need to be a mind reader. He was so rude and spoilt our experience. I would advise the owners to give him some training in customer service or he should try another career. Would never go back or recommend this place to anyone, so disappointing. It wasn’t even particularly busy, I think we were one of a few tables...

After a difficult few months we decided to book a short break to Windermere. We booked a two night break at the amazing Applegarth Villas and researched the best place to eat. The award winning Crafty Baa sounded perfect. Unfortunately we didn’t get to try the food as we were greeted for our 6pm confined booking with “there are no bookings in the diary tonight” After showing our booking on my phone we got “I’ll check, but I’m sure there are no bookings tonight”. Clearly the member of staff who acknowledged our booking didn’t put it in the diary but the obvious response would be “Oh, I’m sorry, let’s get you seated (it wasn’t full) and get some drinks and food sorted. We asked if would be possible to get some food and we were shown (somewhat reluctantly) upstairs, seated next to a rowdy group of students when the whole of the upper floor was empty, and told to go and get own drinks downstairs and if we wanted food to put an order in. We left. I sent a message the next morning (Monday) explaining the situation and got a brief response saying it would be investigated and I would get a reply. On Friday I sent another message expressing my disappointment and got an aggressive reply reiterating that I would get an explanation. After a further 5 days I still haven’t had an explanation as to why our booking wasn’t there and why the member of staff was so rude. Very disappointing from an award winning...

Somewhere I was really excited to visit in Windermere and in terms of atmosphere and feel a really welcoming place, warm with wildly interesting decor, some of the space upstairs takes a interesting turn but go and see for yourself. A huge focus on upcycling and crafting, a lot of passion has gone into developing the space, more so than their selection of Craft Beer, a bit of a disappointment as options on Draught were good but fairly mainstream with slow rotation (1 keg change over 3 days for our visit), a big selection in the fridge and again apart from some of the European options it was all fairly mainstream. They had 3 self titled options a milk stout, a lager and an IPA all made locally and were pretty nice. Absolutely loads of cider though, no cask beer. So don't be put off, a minor gripe I was just excited to see a bigger focus on local and northern craft beer, balanced options, compared to the other bars it has a huge advantage and ability to stock what they want. I didn't eat but have heard only good things, crisp and snacks are offered with all drinks. The quirky theme extends to the toilets which keeps things interesting. The staff are super friendly and plenty more development going on from what I hear. It's also the smallest pub in the Lake District. Keep up the good work, I can't wait to return, I will certainly be recommending you.

This place is amazing, I visited Windermere for work as a travelling bridal makeup artist, and as I was staying over, I wanted to check out somewhere local. The Crafty Baa is such a fun quirky pub and you can see all the hard work and dedication the family have put into creating this place. I had no idea about the haunted room so I had to see for myself, there were folks in there so I didn't get a proper look, but I'll bring my husband next time and we will get a table there. It didn't occur to me that the Crafty Baa meant that it was all craft beers, but with help from the staff, I chose the 1664 IPA, I'm not a beer drinker but it was actually quite nice. For food I couldn't decide between Mac and cheese balls or the good cluckin chicken wrap, so I ordered both and boy were they delicious! It looks small on the outside but there are tables on every floor and the place was packed, I sat outside on the porch. They had a coal fire inside which was lovely but too hot for me, however outside had a heater for when the night air got chilly, there was also shelter when it rained a little. I was visiting on my own and overall had a fantastic wander out before retiring back at the hotel. This one is a place to visit and I'll definitely be back
