This was a nice experience. Pleasant friendly greeting makes all the difference. The interior is a feast for the eyes (in a good way). Lots of old movie memorabilia to look at and test your guests on. Brilliant. Life sized figures are fun and I'm sure are well photographed. All looked clean and cared for. The menu was good for us as we can eat most things as we have no allergies although we do not tend to eat beef. Drinks were good and on the table quickly again served with a smile (take note grumpy hospitality staff). After we decided on our starter and main course it arrived swiftly. Both starter and main were cooked to perfection. We had Calamari and this was good.. Light batter and not chewy. Mr Cook is a good place for for all ages and groups. Great fun. Some day we'll be back I'm sure.

Mr Cook was just down the road from where we were staying. It doesn't look particularly special from the outside, but inside it's absolutely wonderful especially if you're of a certain age. Famous film posters and photographs, film memorabilia, and musical instruments on the walls and ceilings. The background music is of that age that goes with the surroundings, and creates a wonderful atmosphere/ambience in which to eat your meal. There is a very good variety of well presented, excellent food and the staff are all excellent at their job. We found the service was excellent, and we went four times in the seven days we were in the area. The prices were very reasonable.

As the covid restrictions had just been lifted, we decided to give Mr Cook's a try as they offered outdoor seating. This was clearly a quiet evening for them, but we were made to feel incredibly welcome by the serving team. The garden was tidy and fabulously decorated, there is some covered seating available if the weather looks dodgy but maybe phone ahead to check this is available as it is limited. The food was beautifully presented and reasonably priced. I was particularly impressed by the salmon grilled on a bed of bay leaves, as this gave it a uniquely gorgeous flavour! Overall I would wholly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning.

I hate to do this as the owners seems such lovely people. The restaurant was beautiful and the service very prompt. The starter was fantastic, couldn't fault it. However, the steak i ordered to well done, was not well done, and the meat was a very unappetising grey colour, this indicates its been frozen, as its clearly oxidised from the freezing process and it was super thin indeed, they did attempt to hide this with sauce, but you couldn't miss the nasty grey looking steak on your plate! The chips were cheap frozen ones, and given how much you are charged for this food, you'd think they at least serve fresh steak and make homemade chips. My wife absolutely disliked her chicken steak burger, she said it tasted like it was a cheap frozen one. Finally, the Guinness was room temperature, and the coke was poured from a 1.25lr coke bottle and was charged £4. All in all, it's an expensive illusion when in fact you are getting frozen food dressed up to look like it's 5 star ingredients. YES WE WERE ASKED IF EVERYTHING WAS OK BUT FEELING EMBARRASSED, WE JUST SAID "YES ALL IS FINE", YOU JUST FEEL AWKWARD SAYING ANYTHING AND CAUSING AN EMBARRASSMENT TO ANYONE!!

£64.20 not well spent, go to a good pub and get a good steak for...

We booked here last minute for six people (4 adults, 2 children). We had beef stroganoff, Gammon, 2 children's meals (cheese burgers) and a Milano with Vegan mozzarella (I'm not vegan but lactose intolerant). When ordering we asked if the pizzas were premade or could they make the Milano with Vegan mozzarella as I am lactose intolerant. The pizzas are always made fresh and the bases are made with soya and not milk so all bases are vegan suitable! Service was fantastic. The food was incredible! The beef was so tender and well seasoned served with chips and garden peas, the gammon was cooked in fresh garlic and came with fried pineapple, chips and peas. The Milano pizza was around 9inches. Although not on the menu the restaurant did make me a side salad to go with it. It had such a tasty dressing! I would recommend this...
