I generally don’t leave negative reviews, and If I do , I make sure there is a valid reason for it. I have seen plenty of positive reviews for this place and I am sure the food and drinks maybe of good quality and the location no doubt is great for this pub. However for me any eatery, diner or a pub to gain a 5 star, should have ticks against location, ambience, Hygiene, food and service. The one of utmost importance to me is the service since it is all about human interaction. My experience was not good with this place. The pub has its parking given out to the parking company ‘JustPark’ which allows public parking. I am sure the pub is benefitting by opening its parking out to public, especially in Windsor where parking is a big constraint. I was visiting with my family and my simple sunday plan was to park my car for a couple of hours (paid parking), take the long walk all the way to Windsor castle come back enjoy the Sunday roast in the pub and be on my way. However when I had parked and was paying for the parking through the justpark app, the guy from the pub came running out and in a very impolite and unprofessional manner said I can only park for an hour since they are running busy (Let me be honest it was Sunday, it was midday and there was only 3 cars in a 20 space car park). I politely told the person that I was not aware and I had already paid for 2 hours , at which the guy in a very harsh tone said ‘Ok its 12:10, you better be back in 2 hours’. I was in a family outing and did not want to confront the guy for his behaviour. If you are giving out your parking space out to public at a cost you should not be complaining and shouting at people for parking if your customers don’t get a place to park. Or you work out suitable days with your parking company. I could have easily extend my parking through the app, but I made it a point we were back much before time and went out looking for another parking space. With already a bad taste in my mouth Sunday roast in the restaurant was out of question. Do note, I have already reported my experience to...
Read moreWeird experience last Sunday at lunch with a group of friends, my wife and two little children including my son. Although I had mentioned in my initial reservation days in advance that we would have needed two high chairs, the table initially reserved for us did not have high chairs and as soon as we asked for them we’ve been invited to move to the patio, well heated but with an ambience not comparable with the main dining room inside the pub. Reading other reviews it looks like other guests with children had a similar experience. Regardless of the little display of kid friendliness, we’ve been generally met with a fairly unwelcoming attitude with the exception of the youngest waitress, who was quite kind and at least occasionally smiling. Most of us were born in Italy but most of us lived 10 years or more in this country and have never experienced such a cold reception in a restaurant. The food was mostly good but not exceptional, definitely not good enough to overcome the bitter aftertaste of such an...
Read moreAs I parked the car and walked out with my dogs to meet my partner in the garden for a pint of beer I was stopped by the rudest man as ever spoken to me . He asked where my car was and then pointed out the silly sign right at the entrance of the pub which says " we will clamp in 5 min." Then he raised his voice at me yelling that the car park was for customers only . What a lovely , friendly warm welcoming ! When I replied that my boyfriend was waiting for me he kept asking where was he sitting ! All this scenario happened right in front of all the other customers who stopped eating and drinking to ear our conversation . This man made me feel and treated like a criminal . He assumed that I parked the car in his pub to walk my dogs I don know where . He could have just approached me politely and asked me if I was a customer .
This man was either drunk/ drugged or racist as I cannot explain his behaviour . Me and friends will never step in...
