Kam Sang — Restaurant in England

Appalled, wouldn’t ever go again I went with members of my family, 6 of us in all, when we arrived it was very quiet, we ordered drinks and meals including a steak for my brother who doesn’t eat spicy food so stays safe with a steak. The order arrived apart from the steak, we waited awhile then started eating, but my brother was still waiting for his steak, I asked the waiter who had taken our order he said that it wouldn’t be long, by this time the rest of us had nearly finished so I asked yet again after some discussions they then came back to our table and told us that they didn’t have any steak, but he could order something else ???? what was the point the rest of us had nearly finished. They said there had been a miss understanding between the cook and the waiter, but I feel they knew they didn’t have steak but they wanted the rest of us to eat some they could charge us. Again they came to our table and said my brother could have a take away which he would have to pay for, we said this was not acceptable and would just leave it. Just before we left they said we wouldn’t have to pay for the steak which? why would we pay? we never got a steak. I wouldn’t have been as annoyed if they had at any point apologised but they didn’t, they didn’t even offer my brother a drink for the upset or the...

Food was actually pretty good, it tasted pretty fresh and the flavours were nice. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired however!

My wife had a glass with her drink which had lipstick on, and in the current climate this is definitely not ok. It was less about the glass being dirty but more how it was dealt with, it was checked right in front of us, making me feel he's trying to accuse us of lying, then no apologies, and just bangs the replacement on the table.

There wasn't a change of cutlery after the starter either, which I think is a fairly normal thing to expect. Rather the guy took our cutlery off of our plates and put them on the table, no asking like can you hold on to the cutlery or anything. I felt that again in the current covid times this isn't acceptable.

All in all, I wouldn't say it's the worst experience I've ever had, because the food was pretty ok. I can understand that the guy (looked like he was maybe the owner/manager) was real busy as it looked like he does a lot of the work around there, but the service really let's the place down.

I wouldn't say it's an avoid, but just take these things into account and maybe you'll be less...

This is our 5th visit to kam sang restaurant and on previous occasions the food and service both excellent but last nights visit was totally different we were greeted by most of the staff wearing masks were shown to a table brought menus order taken the first course hot and sour soup was so spicy it brought tears to my boyfriends eyes he had the same soup in july totally different colour and taste and it so much tastier in july next the main course my boyfriend had house special curry the prawns were hard to eat and cut which spoiled the curry i had the beef and pineapple which was ok very pineapple laden and very underseasoned next the egg fried rice which was sticky clumped together and not very tasty the one redeeming part of the meal was the prawn crackers very tasty 😊 i must also say felt very watched by the staff when eating now u can be attentive to customer's without making u feel like u being watched if i do return and staff wearing masks i will not be staying as not comfortable being served by people...
