Attracted by good Google reviews went for lunch, 7 of us. Lost money, time and ruined our tastebuds too. Not at all authentic and quality food. Starters of grilled octopus was in fact not fresh at all and worse were charred to bitterness. The mains too were charred to bitterness (see photos), not only fish, the same problem even with chicken. Upon complaining, apologised and gave discount. Really does not change anything about quality of ingredients or cooking skills. Even the kids food was of poor quality ingredients and rather basic for the price. Response to owner: no one goes to a restaurant to take photos of empty plates. You have the audacity of implying that we are lying about the poor quality of food using our own precious time and infact ate all our food, what a cheap behaviour. I think people who read this can understand that if we enjoyed the food we would not have left a bad review spilling the beans. Wasting our own time. We were offered a discount because the staff accepted that food was over burnt or to reorder, which we would not as we were in a hurry. Shameful attitude, very poor business ethics. If the food was all good you wouldn't have given a third off the bill, would you? Maybe I'll upload it so that others too can get their money back for poor experience. People can be the judge.

Only minutes from the Brighton Front, I felt like I had actually hopped on a plane and arrived in Greece when a friend recommended Adelfia, the family run Greek Mediterranean restaurant. From the flags that hang outside to the Greek speaking staff, everything about this restaurant is authentic and beautiful. We were spoilt for choice and ordered a selection of dishes that included the slow roasted lamb that slid off the bone it was so tender. One of my guests is usually quite a picky eater, but even he was blown away by the flavours and textures especially the battered calamari. All the food was so fresh and packed with flavours. Every dish and side order recommended by the manager were delicious. If you’re not sure, just ask. There was so much to choose from, we’ll need to come again to try it all. We had also mentioned that it was my birthday, and got special attention as the manager brought out a selection of their deserts and icereams which were scrumptious.

Saw amazing reviews and maybe it's just my luck. Bad starters, brilliant mains. The staff: Nice and very helpful. Smiling always and accomodating any requests respectfully. The food: Here is the good, bad and ugly. Starters: I ordered the Calamariki and was very dissatisfied. The batter was burnt and it was oozing oil. Came with nothing else to dip into. They gave me a Garlic mayo on request but I thought it should come with it. It was so oily that it made me very uneasy. The dish had nothing special that it should be eaten at a restaurant. Mains: Fish of the day - Sea Bream. This was brilliant. The fish was very tasty. Simple but it was fresh and juicy. Although I would have appreciated if the fish was at least gutted and then grilled. Dessert: didn't have one. Payment: Won't take AMEX.

Unfortunately, underwhelming dishes, pretty tasteless. Outstanding service, though.

We visited on Sunday at lunchtime, initially hoping to stay for all three courses, especially since the food on plates of other diners looked gorgeous. Five of us ordered smoked hummus (appreciated by most), a generous portion of feta in herbs and lovely olives to share. We then had baked feta in tomatoes and peppers (with hardly any cheese present in the crunchy, sour sauce - ideally, the saltiness of feta should balance the tomatoes), with others sharing two portions of souvlaki, one chicken and one pork (meat was good, but the salad on which it was presented was judged us awful) and two portions of prawns in some tomato sauce ( the comments ranged from 'underwhelming but don't want to complain out of being polite' to 'it's alright, bit boring' with a shrug of shoulders - but that came from a person knowing she wasn't paying the bill). My husband also tried two house wines by the glass, and a bottle of vinegar-like tasting Greek wine at £22 a bottle, which luckily was taken back. Apparently, Greek wines are known to be sour on the palate... Sadly, no cocktails were on offer.

I had an eye on the veggie burger, but what if it disappoints, too? When I suggested moving elsewhere, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, and we were out in 5 minutes.

Overall, the menu was extensive and inexpensive, the food well presented, the team was brilliant, attentive and knowledgeable (and therefore tipped despite our qualms over the...

Fabulous restaurant We got married on Valentine's Day and trying to book a restaurant for a big group was very difficult. We picked Adelfia because of previous reviews and when we contacted them they couldn't have been more helpful. We booked for a group of 12 and although they didn't ask us, we arranged for everyone to pre-order their main course to make it easier on the day. We dropped off the list and a cake the day before and the staff were great, and even offered to put out our favours on each place. When we arrived they had put us in the side section so that we were mainly on our own and were able to enjoy the evening without disturbing anyone else, which was perfect. They arranged platters of mixed starters for us to share, all of which were delicious and great choices. The mains came out and were exactly right. The portion sizes were good and the service was perfect, as they left us alone for a while but checked in every so often to see if we wanted anything. For desert we had our cake and they brought it out with the candles and sparklers we had arranged, plus plates etc for everyone. They allowed us to leave the rest of the cake at the restaurant to collect the following day, as we went on elsewhere after the meal. The staff really helped make our day very special, and we really appreciated their help and kindness. The food was amazing and we will...
