This is an excellent bar. Situated subtly behind a coffee and pasta bar, Draffensâ encompasses all of the mystique and charm of the 1920âs US prohibition period. The bar itself is actually hidden down an alley way, next to some bins. If you didnât know it was there, you wouldnât spot it because the entrance is just a fire exit, with no signs. When you go into it, you go downstairs to a basement where there is a cozy and dark cocktail bar. If you ask for a menu, youâll be asked what that is by a waiter dressed in a 1920âs style outfit, before being handed a clothes catalogue that has the drinks concealed within. The story is that the bar is hidden below a 1920âs department store. The prices themselves are expensive for the area, but the cocktails are delicious. They clearly put a lot of effort into making a good drink, which I really appreciated. I would recommend this place for a fun experience. I would...
Read moreI always enjoy visiting Draffens, we had our anniversary dinner in Frank's since another restaurant wasn't open despite our booking. The staff were so friendly and even made space for us despite being busy. The lady that served us was very attentive despite the amount of people. The one issue I have with the place is that it seems a little understaffed and it seems to just be one person trying to serve all the tables which seems like a lot for one person. Our waitress never made us feel neglected and provided a great service throughout. I noticed the same staff were serving us downstairs in Draffens too, which further proves they seem quite understaffed. Overall a nice experience just feel bad...
Read moreIntriguing little place tucked away slightly off the beating track, marked with a single bright light outside a inconspicuous doorway. Enter into a staircase dressed with mannequins with 1920's apparel upstairs is a antiquated elevator. Downstairs through a door enter into a room with an ornate cocktail bar & concoction of mirrors & pictures adorn the walls. The bar staff dressed in period clothing go about they're business with a good level knowledge & skill, dull lighting & Jazz/Ragtime music playing in the background just adds to the ambience of the bar. Great for starting your night off with a cocktail or finishing it off...
