I’ll start by saying they obviously have very nice, well made food here and the staff were friendly etc. but personally I did not have a good experience. Mainly I just don’t really understand?

The experience started with us waiting at the front for a table without anyone acknowledging us for ten mins, despite quite a few staff members walking past.

When we were seated, I ordered a ham hock burger and asked for it without the egg and cheese because I personally don’t like them - I was simply told the kitchen didn’t operate this way? They explained that if it was for an allergy then they’d adapt it but since it was preference that they wouldn’t. This for me was confusing as it seemed contradictory because it was only my reasoning that meant it couldn’t happen, unless it’s pre-made (it didn’t seem like it was for the price). I was asking for less of the elements for the same price, which I stated I was happy with. In response, I was told I couldn’t order it. So then it was a case of ordering something at least £5 more, if not more than that because there were no cheaper options on the menu.

In the end I ordered a side of hash browns which never arrived, it seems they forgot, I heard the waiter say about them and go to chase them but they still never came in the half an hour after that. The people I was eating with finished their meals and we had a time constraint so I had nothing in the end. They were very apologetic about this and they did take some money off the bill so I am very thankful for that and I fully understand mistakes happen.

Basically if you’re not an annoying fussy eater like me then you’ll probably have a really nice meal and a nice time but if you have any preferences or pickiness about food but no related allergy then you’re a...

Worth the ratings it’s earned so far. We visited midday on a Sunday, and had to wait maybe 10 minutes for a walk-in table. We sat inside, where the service was friendly and fast (but not too fast). The whole restaurant was full, but not chaotic - it was a great vibe for a brunch.

I had a Bloody Mary, with their trademark English breakfast, and my girlfriend had a tofu poke bowl with a pint of Italian lager.

She absolutely raved about her dish, which is praise indeed. It had an Asian twist to it, and the portion was generous. Being honest, my breakfast was okay, at best.

For the English breakfast fans among us, a few noteworthy points.

First, no swaps! I didn’t want the fried beef tomato, but no option to switch it (which I think is rare). The poached eggs were cold, and watery; the bacon was quality but also cold; and the mushroom was tasty but again full of water. I queried the pink sausage, which was again high quality but was assured the pink was nothing to worry about as their supplier uses beetroot preservative. The beans were fine (and homemade), the thick sliced toast was good, and the black pudding would have been the star of the show but it had been waterlogged by the mushroom.

We also shared their ‘famous’ hash browns, which were decent. Note the extras were pricey IMHO - £1.50 for hash browns, and £3 for two hash browns.

Long story short if you’re specifically after a top notch English breakfast, I’d head elsewhere, but don’t be put off - this was a great place, and taking into account the amazing tofu poke bowl, and the brilliant service and setting, I’d definitely recommend and I...

First time trying Moksha after hearing only good things!! We were seated promptly by a friendly staff member, and we didn’t have to wait long to order. The menu here is extensive, and the Autumn specials sounded absolutely incredible - I chose the Eggs Benedict and a coconut matcha flat white, while my husband ordered Huevos Rancheros and a fresh carrot and turmeric juice. The matcha was really good - very flavoursome and excellently frothed coconut milk! The brunch itself left a little to be desired though - the amount of Hollandaise sauce was pretty stingy for a dish which prides itself on it, and the sauce itself lacked that delicious tangy richness that pairs so well with eggs and bacon. I added some of Moksha’s own hot sauce to make up for the flavour and lack of sauce - this was really tasty. The muffins seemed homemade and were absolutely delicious, but were slightly undercooked and doughy in the centre which was a shame. I couldn’t fault the eggs or bacon, both were cooked to perfection. On the flipside, my husband’s Huevos Rancheros was a complete success - the portion was so large he struggled to finish it and the flavours were spectacular, from the smoky chorizo to the crispy tortilla and mountain of fresh guacamole. He said it’s the best brunch he’s had in his life, so I think this was the better item to order!! The atmosphere is buzzy and welcoming, and the service is quick and friendly. I would happily return to Moksha to try a different brunch item or a burger (these looked...

Moksha has become our go-to breakfast place every time we visit Brighton from London – and this visit marked our fourth over the past few years. What keeps drawing us back is the consistent standard of both the food and the service, which is no small feat. On this occasion, I had the Eggs Benedict, which were absolutely delicious. My partner ordered the Huevos Benedictos – a creative and flavourful twist on the classic. Moksha clearly takes pride in using high-quality ingredients; even the muffins used in their Benedict dishes are unique and far superior to the usual fare – we’ve never come across anything quite like them elsewhere. A particularly nice touch was the sprinkle of healthy seeds over the Benedict – an unexpected detail that worked beautifully. The bacon was perfectly balanced too – not overly salty, which is ideal for anyone mindful of their sodium intake. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming, which really adds to the experience. Moksha continues to be a standout breakfast spot in Brighton, and we recommend it wholeheartedly.
