Oui Creperie offers lovely crepes, and the cafe is a nice environment to eat; however, I feel compelled to share my experience regarding the work environment. I suggest that if you are a younger student looking for a job, you perhaps shouldn't work here.
Although I only had a brief stint working here last year, the negative experiences I encountered with the owner during that time have had a lasting impact on me. I wasn't going to go as far as to write a bad review, until hearing from multiple other girls that they felt the same way- some who had been working here longer than i had and some who had just started- so i felt inclined to say something.
The owners demeanour is consistently rude, snappy, impatient, and unfair to people that are genuinely trying their best. I understand there is a standard to meet when working in hospitality, but it felt as if the comments that were made were particularly harsh and unwarranted. I am generally forgiving by nature, but I would go as far to say that even now, the comments made during my time there have lingered, causing undue anxiety when pursuing new job opportunities and bad feelings about myself.
I am perfectly capable, but I have dyslexia and slow processing, which makes working any job anxiety provoking for me enough on its own. The anxiety i had about the owner criticising what felt like everything and offering no encouragement whatsoever brought me to tears after my trial shift. I just worry that other people might encounter similar experiences as i did and it would knock their confidence just the same, perhaps worse even if they were in a very bad place. While I cannot speak for everyone's experience, I wanted to offer a word of caution for those considering employment here. Additionally, I hope my feedback serves as a gentle reminder to the owner to reconsider how they treat their employees (people may lack experience in making crepes, but most certainly make up for it in enthusiasm and willingness to learn). It's essential for workplaces to foster environments where all individuals feel respected...
Read moreMy all time favourite place to go for comfort. I seek these crepes out at fairs and festivals (they have a little pale blue French van so look out for it) they’re better than any I’ve ever tasted and the hot chocolate is sheer joy. Trust me I’m a connoisseur. When you visit you’ll be met with Arnold’s enthusiasm and love for his metier. When I sit in his cafe I feel like I’m in Paris but honestly the crepes are better ! Try his vegan special or the chocolate and cherries ! When they’re done well Crepes are one of the best things the world has to offer in my opinion … and there’s nothing worse than a disappointing one. Oui Crêperie is so special and the crepes never disappoint. It is so beautifully designed with simple rustic French style and flair. I love people who obsessively specialise in their craft and perfect their art. Arnold is one of those people and cooks with gentle affable humour and love … and we come here regularly to recharge . The music is fab and the atmosphere soothing and Arnold’s conversation is always rich...
Read moreOui Oui! I found myself at Oui Creperie after spending (and I’m not joking) 3 hours deliberating whether or not Pancake Day 2025 was to be celebrated with a crepe or a plate of American pancakes (it’s serious business- making food decisions). I am so glad that I went with where my heart was calling me to the loudest- Oui Creperie. You can’t beat those crispy edges combined with the comforting softness that a great crepe delivers on.
The two guys were a delight to chat to and the crêpe itself was delicious. I opted for one filled with dark chocolate. Biting into the warm crêpe whilst hidden away were pools of molten dark chocolate, just waiting to be discovered was worth the 3 hours of deliberation. My only regret? Not grabbing myself a loyalty card as I will most definitely be...
