So I only got hummus and the Panchanga because I want to save the rest of the menu for another evening, but MY GOD, what an amazing evening.
The food was fresh, delicious and well presented. The hummus was probably the best I've ever had. And I've had homemade hummus from several different Labanese families. I would never tell them it was better, but I'll tell you! Just extraordinary!
The Panchanga is supposedly the house favorite and for good reason. The filo was light and crispy and added such a wonderful crunch to the slightly spicy chorizo and mozzarella that the portion provided always seemed too small. I didn't want it to end. The salad accompaniment combined with the lemon was the perfect combination to create a flavor profile I have not yet discovered in England.
The wine suggestion was equally precise to complete an outstanding and balanced meal. I have to say that this was probably the best meal I have had in England since I arrived a month ago. If you don't find yourself having dinner at Trio in York you will find yourself missing out on the way food should be presented, served, and prepared. Do yourself a favor and make a...
Read moreStumbled along Trio when looking for somewhere to have lunch. Settled on this place and we thoroughly enjoyed the panini and coffee we had. The general atmosphere of the place reminded me of how tapas bars are like abroad.
Later we decided to revisit because we liked it that much. The tapas selection was incredible and the cocktails were delicious (and excellent value). The music & atmosphere of the place, as well as the excellent, friendly staff made for a lovely evening meal.
The owner actually noticed us from lunch time and he was overjoyed to see us again & he said it made his day. He asked if we wanted to move to the other side of the restaurant in front of window, as well as moved our coats and drinks while following us to the other table. He continued to chat to us for a while - it was great to hear about the success of the place after all the let downs of the lockdowns - we can understand why the place is doing soo well. He continued to look after us the entire night and we were treated to a nice shot upon leaving. Thank you soo much! 😁 It’s the little things that mean a lot!...

Usually you would expect chopped tomatoes full of flavour on a bruschetta, however this was a bland olive tapenade with just half a cherry tomato on top. The crostini with ricotta and “radish” simply had cream cheese and one slice of radish on top, very bland. The creamy mushrooms were again very very bland, not enough seasoning used. The pitta that accompanied it was very nice though and staff did offer more bread. The restaurant was also very very cold with a strong breeze coming from the door next to the toilets which made it an uncomfortable experience. Coffee also was unfortunately lukewarm and bitter. Not to be 100% negative, the Patatas bravas and shrimp dynamite were good and staff were attentive. Also be aware a 10% service charge is automatically added...
