What a wonderful place to dine. The food is wonderful, the couple on the table next to us were so impressed they told us too. We ended up going to a Cocktail Bar Marden close by for a drink before going home. That doesn’t happen often, which shows the relax ambience of the establishment. Back to the review. We were met by a charming lady, we given the drinks menu & Gin list. We asked if the Wine waiter if he could fix us a traditional gin & tonic with a heavy juniper flavour & he did just that. The wine list was very comprehensive & we selected a beautiful white wine that compliment the meal. The menu stated that the meat was supplied by Geoff Mycocks from Buxton who is the finest butcher in Derbyshire & the one we use at home; so we knew we were in for a treat. We started with the Game Pate, Sarah had the duck & I had the pheasant. All dishes perfectly put together & clearly cooked with love. We did not feeling like a desert by our new friends for the table next to us had the most amazing sharing chocolate brownie with fruits & cream. Will be going back, the fish & vegetarian dishes looked fantastic, plus the other starters. We hope to try a desert as well, plus a liquor or two & there are plenty to select from. Need to explore the wine list more. Plus the other diners there we as charming as the restaurant itself. Showing just how loved this place is. Very close to the train station, with a taxi rank near by. The price of the dinner very fair indeed. Hunters chicken in a pub in Buxton £12 compared with a gourmet game dinner prepared by a Michelin Style chef £16 at Baileys....

Came here following recommendations from family. Great draught drinks selection, lovely to get Moritz and and Super Bock in the UK. Staff were really friendly and service time was as you'd expect for a busy Saturday night. The starters were lovely, parmsean mushrooms and hot honey fried chicken . The garden vegan burger was really nice, like falafel, unfortunately the beef burger was a little dry, you could tell the meat was good quality but it just felt like it needed to be juicier. It's a giant patty so maybe would just be better as two, but generally good food all round. The only real down side for us was the live music starting while we were eating, we were upstairs and our chairs were vibrating where it was coming up through the floor and it was quite loud while trying to chat over dinner. It looked fab when we went downstairs through the bar after dinner, but for eating it wasn't great to have that going on, I'd have been quite peeved if I'd paid out say for a steak and then the floor was rocking . If we'd have been given the heads up we would have booked earlier before the music started so perhaps something for people to...

Before sailing our narrowboat into Whaley Bridge we'd searched the usual internet listings and resources for somewhere to eat and was a tad disappointed at the available options.

Then we found Bailey's so, being a Bailey, obviously I was interested!

Their website may possibly be seen as a tiny bit pretentious, a little restaurant trying to seem fine dining. The reality is that this is a little gem of a restaurant proving to be a quite delightful surprise - and wouldn't be out of place in any large city where one expects quality food with an imaginative interpretation. Bailey's has a strong classical essence, and quaint application - not at all pretentious.

Dish of note: The Lamb Rump - with smoked beetroot and a tzatziki dip. On its own the smoked beetroot was wholly overpowering yet with the tzatziki blended perfectly and amplified the perfection of the Lamb.

I'm still surprised to find somewhere like this tucked into a smallish town / village amongst the fast food takeaways and to be bluntly honest, wish they were closer to Sheffield (where I live) - but it's worth travelling for and I'd most certainly...

This was my last supper in a week's trip where I had not truly enjoyed a meal, so a lot was riding on this one, and Bailey's did not disappoint. Although they were busy, they did not seem to consider my presence an imposition, the way many restaurants treat a lone diner without a reservation. Instead they welcomed me warmly and proceeded to serve me food that was out of this world. They were out of the sticky prawns starter (reasonable after a busy pre-theatre crowd) so I went for the calamari instead, and I think I lucked out. They were tender, without even a hint of rubberiness, accompanied by a gentle tangy sauce on a generous bed of bacon morsels. Main course was a perfect fillet of beef with Café de Paris butter, and the most perfect chips ever. Oh and a surprise corn on the cob. Finished with an exquisite crème brulée, which itself was accompanied by a surprise pair of shortbread biscuits. I could find no fault at all with any course, and I'm kind of sad it's all over now. Highly recommended.
