On arrival we were greeted by a pleasant young woman who showed us to our table. There was a young girl with dark hair stood behind the bar who wasn’t much older than 10yrs. She didn’t look happy, a woman appeared, she was the mother of this child who turned out to be the owner/chefs wife. Mother was scolding child for having an attitude, asking what she wanted for tea, telling her there was nothing to eat at home, advising her that her attitude needed to change or she was telling her dad. The woman, considering she was the owners/chefs wife was not very professional considering this is a family business. Not what you want in a restaurant when you walk in. Food came and it was poor, I ordered lasagne and my husband the spaghetti bolognaise. The lasagne was just all pasta and cheese, the bolognaise was like coloured water. I left half my lasagne. Garlic bread was anemic and dripping in what I think was oil. We needed something to fill us, we ordered the warm chocolate brownie with cream. A young lad emerged from the kitchen with long floppy hair at the front, went behind the bar, got out a can of squirty cream, the amount given was no bigger than a 50p piece. It should be fresh cream at £6.50 per portion. We then ordered cappuccino’s thinking it just can’t be done wrong, it was, when have you ever had a cappuccino without chocolate sprinkles. It’s the best bit. The owner/chef kept coming front of house, flicking through the diary, making comments to the staff, he needed to crack a smile to, he looked so miserable, it was like we (his guests) were an inconvenience. In hindsight I wish I’d complained. I certainly wouldn’t of paid the full price. Not worth it. The two young ladies that served us were the only decent thing about the place, very young, but doing their best with what they are given. Numerous issues within the establishment need work, especially the food. We will not...
Read moreMe and my husband stayed in Buxton for a night, that too a very snowy one! Naturally we were craving something warm. We walked into this lovely place reluctantly a little before 9pm, hoping they weren’t near the closing time but were pleasantly greeted by Lauren and quickly seated. It was a very cozy place with the best ambiance! Lauren took us order and helped us pick the dishes to our liking. We ordered Salmone Rotolato as our appetiser and it were the most amazing thing we had tasted in quite a long while. For our main course I ordered Spaghetti Con Gamberetti e Rucola (they kindly agreed to make it extra creamy) and My husband ordered a pizza with toppings of his liking (prawn and tuna). Both were outstanding! After quite a long time we enjoyed a dinner this scrumptious. By the time we were finishing up with our main course we noticed that we were the only ones sitting. Both Lauren and Rhys were super efficient and really good at their work, and didn’t get the teensy bit fidgety about us finishing quickly. Infact, after we were done with our mains, Rhys very kindly offered to bring us dessert: Caramel Cheese cake! Which was heavenly! (To say the least) At the end the chef came out to greet us goodnight. Overall it was an outstanding experience and would recommend this eatery 10/10 to everyone...
Read moreNow an Italian restaurant is generally my favourite! We walked in and there were great smells and cosy atmosphere. Special mushroom starter was great with a fantastic piccante sauce and it all went downhill from there. Thought I would try the "mixed pasta" with a creamy tomato sauce. Nothing like the starter, not great having 4 different pasta types mixed together, didn't work at all, sauce was bland and not even creamy. My partner had the chicken with cream and onion sauce and mozzarella topping. I tasted it and the sauce has an awful sweet type of taste, though the chicken itself was well proportioned and would have been ok if it wasn't drenched in this awful sauce. Oh and chips served with meals in an Italian restaurant, surely not a great sign. The waitress didn't seem very happy and battled to connect with clients. The lady (perhaps the host) who collected the money looked happy enough and was very polite and friendly. Not often that I've been to a bad Italian restaurant but this is it. Generally if an Italian restaurant is run by Italians then it's perfect and great... I'm guessing no Italians in this one? ...
This one is not worth a gamble...
