The food here was definitely a cut above - great flavours in the salads and the marinated halloumi sandwich. The staff were lovely and accommodating to special requirements. Nice atmosphere and good music selection at just the right unobtrusive background volume. Will definitely come again! Update: we've visited a few more times and there's always a good selection of interesting dishes including plenty of vegan options. Cakes also good. But this time my jacket potato with tuna major seemed to have a very large amount of white pepper in it, tasted kind of odd, and I had digestive issues shortly after the meal, though I know it may have been a random coincidence. Also, the kombucha advertised on a hand-written board for ยฃ3.20 a glass turned out to be a can, I couldn't help but feel a bit cheated. Dishes are nicely presented though and salads imaginative and tasty, see picture.

1) Super dog friendly! Stood outside and asked a member of staff waiting on outdoor tables if dogs were permitted inside. Got a prompt yes and was shown to a table straight away. Two separate team members made a fuss of my big fluffy fella and he was treated to some dog treats in the process. 2) Our drink was served first with food to follow - only a short wait inspite of it being a busy lunch hour. 3) Vegan food was spot on - chose the toasted mushroom and vegan cheese sandwich which was served with a medley of unexpected sides/salads. A generous helping and a variety of flavours. 4) Cost was reasonable for the amenities, service and food offered - the cafe was bright, inviting and clean. Staff polite and friendly and plenty of choice of food for all tastes. 5) Thank you guys for making us very welcome, this was our first visit to Buxton. :)

Had an amazing time together with my friend Lhyne Consigo Buxton in the 4th of July "21. My 1st tym out with the friend since the Lockdown wow ๐Ÿคฏ Excellent quality of Food, it's great and very tasty. Very affordable price & good value for money. Im used to pay money for food. I go to discount supermarket as often as I go to waitrose. I'll pay 30ยฃ for starter (and i did) ... As long as everything around taste and looks as its worth the price. I'm ok with that. Here? Didn't feel like 13ยฃ for full English breakfast is worth going for. In situations where (even in Manchester) it costs half that. For everything on plate x2.

Sofa looks like it needs proper wash. Same with pillows. Table where I sat was sticky like teenagers bedroom. And coat of clear paint was getting off like bbc left wing journalism. So that's not very welcome from proudly independent. Or maybe that's what it means? Lower standards?

Which could mean just that. If you sitting in larger room with sticky table in front of windows... Noise from extraction fan is just fudging painfull. Yes I get the idea of open kitchen so you can see what 'the cook' is doing (more on that one in a second) but here... I think sitting next to starting airplane would be nicer. Change in design maybe is in order? And I sat in places with open kitchen (there's one interesting in Manchester, called just like one of the city's in Japan. And noise is non existent there.)

And speaking of open kitchen design... Person that was flipping bacon and sausages (I'm really not going to use name 'the cook') had at one point phone call. Now I'm sorry. Food rating should stand for something here. It's not just how clean surface in kitchen is or how do you go with HACCP rules. But really you answering mobile while preparing food for customers? Talking out loud about issues and that you have yo close for few hours because it's a serious job? 'I'll be with you in a sec mate I have to flip that bacon'neggs' ๐Ÿคฆ.. Im fine if he would say 'I'm busy I call you in a sec.' But he didn't. And kept the conversation loud enough... Because the extraction fan was not helping to have a quiet conversation. While cooking food for a customer. If that was for me I would ask for money back and left!

So let's go with food shall we? Afraid not a good news here either. I had the worst dry cappuccino ever. And it's not like you can choose which one you want. It's just cappuccino. And i was really struggling to call it cappuccino to be honest. First shot of espresso was... Non existent? Coffee was poorly milled. On top of that I could taste it in my cup of whatever_that_was. And you could tell it's really really poor quality in taste. And there's foam. And like I said it's dry cappuccino I had. And it was dry because foam could be used as well to keep bricks together. Honest to god I recon if I would put my spoon there it would stay firmly. It was so badly frothed it could be used in fire extinguishers. It felt cheap. It tasted cheap. It looked like machine made. In Morrisons. Press the button coffee made. That's not independent!

So the cake slice. After I saw how mutch was for full English breakfast I went with chocolate and nut cake. There was a nut... In name. Didn't found one in my slice. It was dry. Probably more than peppercorn. It felt like it was left out for few more days longer than it should. And probably that's why fella that was taking my payment was popping his fingers. He was just so happy someone finally bought one! Chocolate felt not chocolate enough. Colour was there. And nothing more. And it was getting hard and I mean weetabix hard. Layer of filling between was not properly mixed too. If I would kept it for a second longer I could probably tell you all ingredients they used. And in what proportions too. That's how badly it was made.

I love independent places. No chains, no brands. Pure people's business for people. Not focused on money, but on service for customers. To make them like they just feel in the best place ever. I do find such places. Sadly for every place I love.. It seems subconsciously I do find places where I will no go back in a long time. And this place? Is just that. Frontal lobotomy or dining in this place? Bring on the tools and make it without anesthesia.

This place pretending to be balet dancer... In...

If I could give 0 stars I would. Honestly don't waste your money. A Tesco sandwich was better. The store felt busy ( with only 1 other table besides us) so they messed up an order and when asking them to rectify the chef refused to talk directly and was extremely rude. He had 0 interest in the customer. How hard can it be confuse coleslaw for cheese on jacket potato. You have to be relatively uneducated and thick to confuse the two and find it difficult to resolve. They chef gave 0 interest and this resulted in a walk out. I have reported the matter to trading standards for lack of hygiene and images have been taken of the dirty cutlery that they simply wipe without a wash by the looks of it. Forn the 8 out of 10 that did eat al confirmed that this place was a waste of time 3 or which who ordered salmon all have diareeha and suspected food positioning. i dont know how it was stored but theres alot to answer to. If you want to eat rubbish and be served like rubbish visit, otherwise stay far far away from here. That chef should be talked to for his attidude. I will ensure that this is not the last the store hears of this and hopefully a site inspection will resolve...

Cosy restaurant with funky coushions. We ordered vegan burger, vegie plate ,carrot cake and latte.Veggie plate was nice&tasty. When our guest made a bite he realized it was a meat.So I called waitress (blond ,straight hair) asked if it was vegan, she answered it wasn't,cos her colleague made order on paper as normal burger.Instead of apologizing and taking plate back she bluntly said:So,are you vegan?!They were only lucky that I was in a good mood. Our guest said :,,no,but I have a diet for3months without meat. She turn around like nothing ,with miserable face and went back to her job.Her colleague had a smiley face.If not for this terrible attitude I would give one more star. The carrot cake was very very dry(to my opinion not fresh)with more raisins inside then pastry. It was nearly as if my 5year old child made it.The sponge needs to be moist. The latte was exceptionally good. There were 3waitreses...
